Will Israel Rush to the Philippines?

TACLOBAN, Philippines - One of the most powerful storms ever recorded killed at least 10,000 people in the central Philippines province of Leyte, a senior police official said on Sunday, with coastal towns and the regional capital devastated by huge waves.

Super typhoon Haiyan destroyed about 70 to 80 percent of the area in its path as it tore through the province on Friday, said chief superintendent Elmer Soria, a regional police director.
Israel was first on the ground in Haiti, after the 2010 earthquake there, in order to bring medical aid and general assistance to a poverty-stricken and beleaguered population.  Given the devastation that has just taken place in the Philippines, I very much hope to see a repeat performance by the Israelis.

It should be remembered, of course, that after the 2010 action in Haiti which saved countless Haitian lives, the Israelis were accused of stealing Haitian internal organs for sale on the black market or for using the Haitian tragedy as a way of deflecting international concern over its treatment of local Arabs.

Nonetheless, Israel cannot worry about what the malicious will say and should do whatever it can do to help the suffering people of the Philippines.

  1. How horrible. My thoughts are with all those who are suffering.

I remember the accusations of organ harvesting. That sickened me long before I ever got involved with online pro-Israel advocacy. Do they not realize the roots of such claims? Or is that precisely the point?

    1. I just very much hope that they're putting together a disaster relief team that will get over there quick to help out.

      We shall see.

    2. The biggest vulgarity of the organ harvesting controversy was not so much the allegations themselves, or even that the alleged had occurred, but that the alleged culprits were falsely identified as originating from a singular and specific ethnic group acting conspiratorially to achieve certain predefined and predictable scurrilous ends.

    3. Klan meeting break up early tonight, Mr. Lincoln-Rockwell?

    4. LoL, no, but I see your tribe meeting is still red hot and bubbling away. Elminating Jordanians from the face of time and removing every trace of Palestinians from the pages of history must be very time consuming work!

      No signs of fatigue yet?

    5. So you're liveblogging, then?

Your boorishness merely continues to simply bore.

I'd ask you to stay on topic, but then again it's pretty clear the only topic you're interested in is Jew-hatred.

    6. Nope, wrong again. The interest lies in those who will and wish away the existence of Palestinians, Jordanians etc etc.

I find Israel apologists are the richest source, most bountiful fountain of information for those interests, don't you?

    7. I am an 'apologist' for nothing because there is nothing to apologize for.

Your fanatical obsession with attacking Jews even on stories about horrific tragedies in the Philippines says everything we need to know about you.

The hate and bigotry really burns deep inside of you, doesn't it?

  4. Titus, you write:

    I agree.

In fact, it goes to the heart of the matter, does it not? The suggestion that Jewish Israelis went to Haiti in order to harvest organ parts for sale on the black market played directly into the history of the type of anti-Semitic discourse that eventually led to the Shoah. It is, in fact, a modern form of the blood-libel and it was the blood-libel, throughout the Medieval period, that laid the ground for the various pogroms and persecutions and expulsions leading up to that rockin' good time that Jews had in the middle of the twentieth century in Europe.

You have to understand that it is for this reason that Jewish people tend to be rather sensitive concerning unwarranted or false or polemical claims of Jewish guilt or Israeli Jewish guilt. My father's side of the family was shot dead by German troops in the Ukranian village of Medzhybizh during Operation Barbarossa in July of 1941 precisely because of the ongoing slanders and malicious chatter against the Jewish people that eventually became German government policy.

  5. When horrors occur there is always the danger, when immediate solutions or relief from the horror are not obvious, the weak minded, typically the majority, the mob, they will all search for blame rather than pursue the more difficult quest for solutions.

Invariably this search starts with an identification of the weakest or the softest targets to dump blame, which normally means those least capable of self protection.

And then, when the accuser finds resistance, rage follows, and that's when it really gets ugly and everything hits the fan.

  6. That's actually quite a lot of paranoid grandiosity. And word salad.
