Where's 'the ...Yeah, that's the thing. Where's 'the line?' My feeling is it probably isn't too far from stories like this, actually. Sooner or later you're sure to run up against The Conventional Wisdom there, and as you note, anything that goes against the cuddly bunny narrative is unwelcome and unwanted. Of course, it probably won't get anyone banned whereas, telling the truth about all the bad stuff might. Kossacks don't wanna hear bad stuff about those cuddly lil Palestinians. It gets in the way of hating Israel.

In the news industry they say "if it bleeds it leads." At dKos there's a bizarro world take on that...."Only if ISRAEL does it, it leads."Doodadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03349941094682080146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6579213173749170024.post-47134902693567427872012-12-13T17:04:32.157-08:002012-12-13T17:04:32.157-08:00I like JNEREBEL's apparent new series at Daily...I like JNEREBEL's apparent new series at Daily Kos, but of course it would be nice if those diaries could get even 1/20th the support and attention the typical Useful Idiot "Israel Suxx, please love me, and do you remember that my wife was attacked once well I'm writing a book about it and Israel still SUXX and follow me on twitter or I'll go numb!" diary gets.

I also inevitably expect one of them to eventually be declared a serious 'misstep' if this continues, followed by immediate summary banning for whatever the horrible thought crime ends up being - perhaps a link to JPost or TOI will result in excoriation for relying upon 'right-wing sources,' or something like that. After all, he's already being accused of 'dehumanizing and demonizing' Palestinians. In fact, when I diaried about antisemitic incidents right here at home a few times on my way out of a certain Big Orange shitpile a year or so ago, I was told that in fact these incidents were not what they seemed, and anyway if there is a rise in antisemitic incidents anywhere in the world, we should seek to 'understand' it as a natural response to whatever Israel is doing at any given moment.

For instance, the 2011 incident in which Jewish teens were pelted with eggs in Lakewood, New Jersey, the city where I was born? That should be 'understood' as merely reasonable criticism of Israel's policies carried out by peace-loving progressive political activists. See? It's very simple to 'understand' and explain away these things, when we reasonably assess them within the context of there being a place called Israel, which is to blame for everything bad and wrong in the world today. To some people, at least...JayinPhiladelphiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14556212008313470286noreply@blogger.com
