Sarsor, whatever her best intentions, is interesting because she represents a Sharia wedge into mainstream American politics.

I used to shrug my shoulders when people like Robert Spencer would talk about "stealth jihad."

I am still deeply skeptical of the notion, but there is nothing the least bit stealth about Sarsour.

She is openly pro-Sharia and working directly within the liberal system that most of us support.

In other words, she is advancing her agenda in the classic American manner.

And, therefore, as challengers within that system we should call this thing out for what it is: the normalization of Sharia within American feminism.Mike L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06450806807610560873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6579213173749170024.post-26484859979951070462017-02-06T08:38:51.645-08:002017-02-06T08:38:51.645-08:00Actually, y'know, this moment is MORE patholog...Actually, y'know, this moment is MORE pathological than 1968.

At least in 1968 there was an unjust war to fight against and black people and women were still second-class citizens.

But Walter Cronkite was out there, representing a rational core.

Now there is no rational core left.Mike L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06450806807610560873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6579213173749170024.post-90072571813297391862017-02-05T12:45:16.377-08:002017-02-05T12:45:16.377-08:00Attended a friendship day march in my hometown yes...Attended a friendship day march in my hometown yesterday to "stand," with local Muslims after the Quebec Mosque shooting. Typically Canadian, it was a very peaceful affair; about 300 people from a city of 90,000; no hateful signs or speeches from anyone and a stop at Tim Hortons for free coffee and Timbits. My partner, who fancies herself somewhat of an old radical yelled "right on," a few times during the speeches and got nasty looks from the quiet crowd. No one railed at Trump or Israel. All in all it was not unbearable. I don't care for protests anymore but this thing at least lived up to its name. This is more serious than 1968 because the "resistance" to the government is inflamed by Democrats in government. Long term harm is occurring from the political games and obsession over the minute. "Trending" is the bane of existence.

Bill Clinton was right when he called identity politics poison. Intersectionality mandates solidarity, no matter the issue, and to oppose the excess turns one evil. Under it all, except for demanding power, do these people have any answers that work?oldschooltwentysixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15672887176887940797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6579213173749170024.post-51280144344427861262017-02-04T23:08:40.148-08:002017-02-04T23:08:40.148-08:00There's nothing creepier than feminists lining...There's nothing creepier than feminists lining up with Linda Sarsour, who as a Sharia pushing fake feminist is extremely creepy in the first place.

" Whatever else Sharia may be, it is a theological-political ideology and thus open to public scrutiny and criticism. "
Not at the women's march, UC Berkeley, the MSM of the Obama years, etc.

"Whenever they lambaste Trump as a "fascist," or something akin to Hitler, he garners quiet sympathy while making his accusers look malicious, ignorant, and untrustworthy in their conclusions."
Which is true about them to an all too great extent.

The question is, do we want to push things back to the left as it now exists, or to a new center.
It's a really good piece, Mike.

OT/P.S. Were I doing interviews of the protesters at the airports my first question would be, "Is there anyone in the world of muslim background whom you wouldn't let into the country?"
