Progressive-Left anti-Semitism

Israel (0+ / 0-)

The U.S. has increased its “watchfulness” of Iran and Israel

The last time the U.S. was "watchful" of Israel, Israel attacked the U.S. Navy technical research ship, the USS Liberty, in 1967, killed 34 American sailors and wounded 170, then lied about it.

Remind me...why do we send $3,000,000,000 dollars of our tax money to Israel every year? Oh--I see, politicians buying votes from American Jews. And, of course, the reason the Republicons are so strong in support of Israel is simply to get American Jewish contributors away from the Democratic Party.

What I am trying to get people like my friend Reuven to understand is that the kind of thing that we read above is both common and acceptable on the progressive-left. We see this kind of stuff daily throughout the progressive blogosphere. In truth, Daily Kos, for all its anti-Arab and anti-Muslim racism, and acceptance of anti-Semitic anti-Zionism, is considerably more reasonable and benevolent than, say, the Huffington Post which is truly vile.

But anti-Zionism, with its attendant anti-Semitism, are acceptable forms of discourse around the progressive-left table, which is why I insist that the progressive-left, as a movement, has betrayed its Jewish constituency.

This is the message, more than any other, that needs to be conveyed to the American Jewish public because it is relevant and because it also happens to be true.

My position is that, therefore, Jewish people and people who care about the Jewish state should boycott the progressive movement, if not the Democratic party.

fizziks has questioned why, if my issue is with the progressive movement, I single out the Democratic party. The reason for that, of course, is that in the United States the Democratic party is the home of the progressive movement. I do not think this should be a particularly controversial position. Most progressives are Democrats and Jewish people should not allow themselves to be taken for granted by either that movement or that party.

I say that we go independent or vote for the Republican party or vote for the Whigs, perhaps, but stay the hell away from Democrats, at least for this cycle. Breaking Jewish people of their Democratic party crack pipe is not going to be either quick or easy, but definitely needs to be accomplished.

btw, in the comments to that diary, written by one of the more vicious anti-Semitic anti-Zionists, we also read this:

I'm not worried about Iran (6+ / 0-)

I'm more worried about an insane, supposed "ally"

So this "progressive" is not worried about Iran, which is a self-proclaimed enemy of the United States that is actively seeking nuclear weaponry, but is instead concerned about the Jewish state which he casually proclaims to be "insane" and not really an ally.

Y'know, Israelis have been under siege since the 1920s, yet they have managed, against all odds, not only to survive, but to prosper, yet "progressives" just loathe and despise the Jewish state.

I find it more than unjust. I find it despicable.

Progressives blame Jews for the attacks against us like the ayatollahs blame women for rape.

Wall of shame for dead man's comment. Note not one is a usual suspect meaning there is far more Israel hate on dKos than just the usual suspects. More evidence for our premise.

Either they don't get this or don't care. Either way, Jewish blood will be on their hands.

  5. This is what fizziks tells lefty coaster, the author of that diary:

"CT in this case means concern troll (0+ / 0-)

We know you dislike Israel and you hate US government policy that is supportive of Israel's right to exist within any borders. Like most of these OMG Israel is going to attack diaries, you are claiming such concern over a potential attack on Iran, but the true motivation is to bash Israel and cast a negative light on the Us-Israel friendship. Your update says as much.

    I could hardly agree more.

Lefty, as much as any of them, is motivated by pure hatred for the Jewish state.

It doesn't matter what Israel does or does not do, people like lefty coaster, the current functional equivalent of Nazis, will hate on the Jewish state no matter what.

  6. If these folks have a label, they are Marxist-Leninists, tied to a rigid and extreme totalitarian ideology, claiming the banner of human rights, yet supporting the destruction of these rights for the individual.

  7. Lefty goes out of his way to find things to demonize Israel with. The kind of obsessive hatred can only mean one thing. Couple that with belief in all the usual suspect canards about the tail wagging the dog, etc and you have a real live kicking one.

Oldschool, I think a lot of them are what you say, neo-commies in my parlance; but, there are also a lot of garden variety Democrats who have a hate on for Israel. Possibly Jews as well but many have learned the proper code to avoid the label. Sooner or later they get caught too.

  8. I agree. Just meant that the most outspoken who shout how Left they are.

There is an anti-Israel proclivity otherwise, which is not hard to understand given the educational environment of the past years, much of which is funded by the worst actors, too.

  9. Oldschool, you are so right. Democracy contains the seeds of its own demise. We must stand guardian that it stays off that path as much as we can.
