Historically Challenged

Doodad

We have shown here how Muslim/Arab antisemitism/hatred goes wayyyyyy back long before any State of Israel. One does not need to be a rocket scientists to get that. So why is an American Ambassador to Belgium so far behind the learning curve?

"'Jew-hate stems from conflict'US ambassador in Belgium provides controversial explanation for Muslim anti-Semitism"

BRUSSELS – Growing global anti-Semitism is linked to Israel’s policy towards the Palestinians, the American ambassador to Belgium told stunned Jewish conference attendants in Brussels earlier this week. Speaking Wednesday at a Jewish conference on anti-Semitism organized by the European Jewish Union (EJU,) Howard Gutman told participants he was apologizing in advance if his words are not to their liking. He then proceeded to make controversial statements about his views on Muslim anti-Semitism, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Friday. "

The fact that he apologized in advance shows he knew what he was doing; apologizing for Arab/Muslim Jew hatred. But then, he is a JEWISH envoy who "played a major role in fundraising for the Democratic Party. He was appointed to the post by President Barack Obama."

Once again a major Democratic player shills for Muslim outreach by throwing Jewish history and reality under the bus. Just another day in Obama being "good," for Israel.

  1. One explanation for this kind of Jewish Stockholm Syndrome, which is all over the progressive-left, btw, is that it gives a sense of control over that which not controllable.

    If Arab and Muslim hatred toward Jews is our fault then we can change. If daddy beats up his little girl because she is "bad," she may likely come to believe it herself so that she can change her bad behavior and thereby stop getting smacked around.

    It's a way of managing anxiety.

    The view above is also ahistoric, as it entirely ignores 13 centuries of Arab-Muslim imperial domination of the Jews on Jewish land.

  2. Richard Landes just wrote a short article in the Daily Telegraph that, among other things, speaks to the fallacy in thinking of Western Elites, not to mention the incredible lack of knowledge concerning both sides of the narrative.

  3. Landes is an important voice.

    He's done very significant work on "Pallywood" and exposing the al Durah hoax that helped launched the second intifada.

  4. He can get kind of complex in his writing, but I agree.

    I would love to see more of the Pallywood stuff in the public domain. Every time I showed that to a fair minded leftist they were astounded.

    with lack of anger;
    bad, with good;
    stinginess, with a gift;
    a liar, with truth."

    Alternate English translation (from the Pali original):

    "Overcome the angry by non-anger;
    overcome the wicked by goodness;
    overcome the miser by generosity;
    overcome the liar by truth."

  6. oldschooltwentysix,

    Excellent article by Richard Landes.

    I think that it's what the Buddha would call right speech: truthful, effective, beneficial speech: skillful speech.

    Thanks for listing the article.

  7. "Truthfully, the biggest problem here
    is that what Gutman said reflects the Obama administration's views (and the views of certain commenters on this blog who are trying to maintain political correctness), but they cannot admit that until after next November.

    One of my friends points out: Remember that mainstreaming on this one isn't limited to the US ambassador. Soros has been saying the exact same thing since 1999 and he said it again in 2003. That second time ended up getting posted all over hate sites like Stormfront, the conspiracy sites, the Democratic Underground, etc. That would make it more likely than not that Obama agrees with his ambassador, even if he cannot do so in public right now."
