Give "Peace" A Chance

Doodad (h/t to Israel Matzav)
In a lecture at the University of Oslo, and in interviews in the Norwegian press and with Haaretz, Norwegian sociologist Johan Galtung made anti-Semitic remarks, including the outrageous claim that the Mossad was behind Anders Breivik's murderous Norwegian rampage last summer, and praise for the anti-Semitic primer, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Galtung is known as the 'father of peace studies.' Among other statements, Galtung claimed that a possible connection exists between the terrorist responsible for the massacre of children in Norway last summer, and the Mossad. “The Jews control U.S. media, and divert for the sake of Israel,” wrote Galtung in an article published in Norway. Link He pointed out that one of the factors behind the anti-Semitic sentiment that led to Auschwitz was the fact that Jews held influential positions in German society. Galtung also recommended reading “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” – one of the most popular anti-Semitic texts in the world. Professor Galtung, 82-years-old, is one of the founders of the discipline called “Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution,” as well as a founder of the international Peace Research Institute in Oslo. He is considered well-respected sociological researcher, has been awarded many prizes, and is the author of over a thousand articles and over a hundred books. Some of his work has also been translated into Hebrew.....(read the whole disgusting thing.)

Once again some celebrated icon turns out to be  teh crazy when it comes to Jews. I suspect (and always have) that there are a LOT more like him out there.

    Lots about this.

  2. Thanks school, I have added a couple of other links. This is a pretty huge story and there will likely be lots of stuff coming out about it. The usual apologists will say it's his age or it's freedom of academic thought etc I'm sure. But it looks like he is antisemitic all over the place. Look at this quote from an interview with Democracy Now from 2010:

"I think Israel could get peace, with open borders, free flow, and perhaps the possibility of Jews settling in the neighboring countries, too, but not trying to mess them up with too much investment and too many tricks of various types."

    Money and tricks.....typical antisemitic tropes.

  4. "Peace studies"?

You just know that the most vicious people imaginable major in "peace studies."

From what I've seen, anyone who associates with any organization with "peace" in its title, is probably among the most hate-filled people that you will find anywhere.

I am suddenly put to mind of the fact that if ever you find yourself alone at midnight in a strange city on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard... RUN!

  5. Norway's tiny Jewish community is under seige. They have been advised by antisemitism experts to emigrate.

  6. *Sigh*

    Guys,

He is a piece of straw in a haystack.

Why are Jewish people so blind -- so imperceptive -- so oblivious? That's a rhetorical question. I know the answer (the anser is: a type of low-level "high-functioning" Asperger's syndrome, and a deep profound form of Stockholm syndrome).

Here's a website that's even just a peek into the actual current real world (in Europe in this case):

    http://philosemitismeblog.blogspot.com/
    http://philosemitism.blogspot.com/

Even what's presented there is just a few straws of the haystack.

Just frickin' look around (YouTube (and the Internet in general) (huge outright overt genocidal anti-Jewish racism); Internet Western News Web sites and the Western mass-media in general (including U.S.-government-affiliated news web sites such as the web site Foreign Policy) (more sophisticated genocidal anti-Jewish (anti-Israeli) racism (sophisticated propagation of malicious lies demonizing Israel); the political actions of governments of Western countries; etc.).

Anti-Jewish racism is so deep and so profound and so pervasive in Western societies that it's like water in the ocean, and Jewish people just take it for granted as being normal and don't even see it -- and even, to various degrees, propagate it themselves, in some cases wittingly, and in other cases unwittingly, in an effort to feel themselves to not be hated by non-Jewish people (and also (and this is important) to feel themselves to be superior (by "criticizing" (libeling) their own (libeled, endangered) people)_.

What the hell does it take for Jewish people to become aware of reality?

It seems that what it has always taken is exactly, or something similar to, the plunging of a bayonette into one's own chest by someone screaming "Die, filthy Jew!".

    1. Well, you know what?

Anti-Jewish racism shouldn't be normal, and it's about frickin' time that Jewish people stand up for their libeled and violently attacked own people like normal human beings and, therein, verbally defend their libeled and violently attacked own people against, and, therein, dispel, huge racist intendedly genocidal lies propagated against their own people.

Op-Ed: Bob Simon, Nothing New Under the Sun, by Eli E. Hertz; Bob Simon - Take another look. Who is humiliating whom?

On January 25, 2009 Bob Simon [of the U.S. TV program 60 Minutes] had this to say [on the program 60 Minutes]:

"Palestinians ... when they want to travel from one town to another, they have to submit to humiliating delays at checkpoints and roadblocks. There are more than 600 of them on the West Bank."

On April 22, 2012 he [on the program 60 Minutes] had this to say:

"For all Palestinians, just leaving Bethlehem is a struggle. Getting to Jerusalem, only seven miles away, whether it's to pray, go to a doctor, visit family members, or work, means going through this Israeli checkpoint. That can take hours but before Palestinians can get even this far, they need a permit from the Israelis which can take weeks or months to obtain and is frequently denied."

Let's get this story straight. I wrote about this in 2009, but I have revised it today:

Bob, you say Palestinian Arabs feel humiliated and harassed when Israeli authorities search them and their belongings; when they are prevented from traveling freely because of checkpoints, roadblocks, closures and curfews. You say they feel "corralled."

Bob, in Israel, every Jewish and Arab Israeli is searched numerous times during the course of a single day. Israelis are asked to open their bags and purses for inspection.

In most cases, they are subjected to body searches with a metal detector every time they enter a bank or a post office, pick up a bottle of milk at the supermarket, enter a mall or train station, or visit a hospital or medical clinic. Young Israeli Jewish men and women are physically frisked in search of suicide belts before they enter crowded nightclubs.

As a matter of routine, Israelis' car trunks are searched every time they enter a well-trafficked parking lot or mall.

Daily, their cars pass through roadblocks that cause massive traffic jams that are even worse when security forces are in hot pursuit of suicide bombers believed to have entered Israel.

Israelis are searched not only when they go out for a cup of coffee or a slice of pizza, but also when they go to the movies or a concert, where the term "dressed to kill" has an entirely different meaning.

These ordinary daily humiliations now extend to similar searches when Israelis go to weddings or Bar Mitzvahs. No one abroad talks about the humiliation Jews in Israel are subjected to, having to write at the bottom of wedding invitations and other life cycle events, "The site will be secured [by armed guards]" - to ensure relatives and friends will attend and share their joyous occasion - and how they have to pay for them.

      (continued)

    4. (from continued)

Bob, these ubiquitous security checks do not exist in Arab cities and towns in pre-1967 Israel (or, for that matter, in Arab towns in Judea and Samaria) because those places are not and never have been targets of Palestinian Arab terrorism.

In fact, the average Israeli is "humiliated and harassed" by being searched far more times a day than the average Palestinian Arab. Not one human rights group, nor you, has so much as noted this massive intrusion into the rights of privacy and person imposed on Israelis.

To date, no one protests the fact that, since the 1970s, Jewish schoolchildren in Israel are surrounded by perimeter fences, with armed guards at the schoolyard gates.

Not one Arab village has a perimeter fence around it. Guards are not required at Arab shops, cafes, restaurants, movie theaters, wedding halls or schools - not in the north, the south, not in Judea and Samaria.

Palestinian Arabs also do not need armed guards to accompany every school trip, youth movement hike or campout. They are not targets of terrorism.

Countless Israelis in sensitive areas within the pre-1967 borders, not just in Judea and Samaria, but in all Jewish towns, villages and bedroom suburbs - are "ghettoized" behind high fences.

Many Israeli motorists avoid major arteries that pass through Arab areas of Israel, while Israeli Arabs and Palestinian Arabs continue to enter Jewish cities and go about their business without peril.

Israelis are told, in effect, to disguise themselves when traveling abroad - not to speak Hebrew in public and not to wear garments that reveal their Jewish-Israeli origins.

Even Israel's national airline - El Al - has been forced to remove its logo from the tails of its aircraft at certain airports, out of concern for the safety of its passengers.

On the other hand, Arabs who frequent Jewish cities and towns in Israel wear their traditional Arab headgear without fear of being attacked or harassed.

Bob, all of this begs the question: Who is humiliating whom?
