Say "Hello" to MT Weekly

Mike L.

I am very pleased to announce that I will be writing a weekly column for MT Weekly, starting with today's piece, "Oh, How Edgy! She’s Dressing Up as “Anne Frankenstein

MT Weekly (Media Tapper) is a fresh news and culture magazine edited by Michael van der GaliĆ«n that covers everything from technology to politics, from entertainment to the arts, from sports to the Arab-Israel conflict.

I want to thank Michael and Grace O'Malley for bringing me in as part of Media Tappers team of journalists and writers and I very much hope that my readership, here at Israel Thrives, will go over and support MT Weekly, as well.

    1. Well, it's a question of boundaries, I guess.

This is one of those perpetual problems. Where do we draw the line on what is acceptable?

I just find it unconscionable that Tablet would publish such brutal material.

I can be controversial, I suppose, and I sometimes piss people off, including you I assume, but Judenscheisse?

      Really?

Anyways, thank you for the compliment, despite the fact that what I wrote should be pretty obvious stuff.

  3. Congratulations on the new gig Mike and a great piece.

    Consider MT bookmarked.

I'm really having trouble finding the words to describe what I think of this woman and the article she wrote.

I'm tempted to say this is a pathology but really the phenomenon is closer in nature to a poorly socialised chimpanzee throwing its excrement at the other primates.

    1. geoffff,

every generation we are told that we are guilty.

      Every. Single. One.

      Going back centuries, millenia, even.

      This generation is no different.

But in every generation there are some of us who come into awareness believing it. Ms. Breslaw honestly believes that Holocaust survivors are victimizers pretending to be victims.

      It's absolutely nauseating, actually.

The difference between now and 20 years ago is that 20 years ago no one would have published such truly vicious garbage. And they would have not published this truly vicious garbage not out of some alleged intimidation by some mythological "Jewish lobby," but because they would have understand this material for the poison that it is.

      Times have changed.

    2. I don't know. Apparently, things were well on their way down even 20 years ago. Or 26, to be precise...

    3. The one thing that I will say about Vidal is that he was part of that old New York-based, mid-twentieth century movement of the public intellectual.

This has largely dried up, I suspect, but there are still a few individuals who can claim to be in the tradition, Paul Berman being one.
