The Obama Administration's Traitorous Naivete

Mike L.
'US must ignore Arab Spring violence to boost democracies'

WASHINGTON - The United States must look past the violence and extremism that has erupted after the "Arab Spring" revolutions and boost support for the region's young democracies to forge long-term security, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Friday.

Clinton, seeking to reinforce the Obama administration's Middle East policy following a wave of anti-American violence and last month's deadly attack on the US mission in Benghazi, Libya, said Washington cannot be deterred by "the violent acts of a small number of extremists."
Ignore Arab Spring violence in order to, ahhh, boost democracy?

The stupidity in this is just unimaginable.

What they fail to understand, still, is that the "Arab Spring" is not about democracy.

They are selling us political Islam under the guise of "democracy" and leftists are lapping it up like cream.

I cannot recall a political moment in my lifetime that could possibly be characterized by this disagree of pure stupidity.

    1. I still cannot believe that a majority of American Jews support an American president who supports the Muslim Brotherhood.

      It's just so senseless.

  2. There is no doubt in my mind, nor has there ever been that Obama is a Muslim and that's where his sympathies lie, so of course he supports the Muslim Brotherhood

I live in the same part of the world a Indonesia, where Obama spent his formative years. I know that being a child of a Muslim father and step-father, there's no way he isn't a Muslim. That would be unheard of and unacceptable in such a staunch Muslim country

We know he went to a Muslim school. He has said there is no nicer sound that that of the call to prayer

    What more do you want?

    1. Well, I honestly do not think that we should assign group affiliation to people who do not claim that affiliation for themselves.

I have been told in these pages that I am a Republican as if being a Republican somehow does not require one to register as one.

      Same with religion, really.

If one claims to be a Christian and claims to believe in the divinity of Christ then one is a Christian. If not, then not.

I do think, however, that Obama's background makes him deeply sympathetic to Islam and I honestly did not have any problem with that when I voted for him.

But, then, I could not have foreseen that he would actually back the foremost anti-Semitic organization on the planet, nor could I have foreseen that so many Jews would simply not care about this fact.

But, no, I wouldn't call him a Muslim, Shirl.

Furthermore, to my mind, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with being a Muslim so long as one is not an Islamist, so long as one is not pushing for political Islam, so long as one does not hold to a 7th century understanding of that religion wherein Jews are held in contempt as dhimmis.

  3. You need some educating in regards to Islam. I certainly don't have the time to do it either. I've been studying it for a number of years.

Islam is a totalitarian ideology masquerading as a religion. It is totally incompatible with our way/system of life. Why do you think they want Sharia Law? It's their way of life and cannot live by ours.

Start with the Hadiths/Sunnah. That's one huge amount of reading. The Hadith are Mohammed's words about what he practiced and preached. They are considered important source material about religious practice, law, and historical traditions.

The Reliance of the Traveller is another, if not better way to go.

    1. Shirl,

in all the conversations that we've had this is probably the very first time that we've come across a significant disagreement.

      I value that.

      I do.

It helps me to think on things when I see a clear and concise articulation of an opposing view.

You know that I respect you, but I wonder about this:

Islam is a totalitarian ideology masquerading as a religion.

I am definitely not prepared to make any such claim. It's just too broad a brush.

      I would say this:

There are at least two major differences between Islam, as practiced in the Middle East and increasingly elsewhere, and Judaism and Christianity.

The first is that Islamic primary texts (Koran and Hadith) call quite specifically for the submission of the dhimmis. There is nothing comparable in either Christianity or Judaism.

That reason alone is more than sufficient for us to be entirely opposed to political Islam and to the Brotherhood and to those who support the Brotherhood, such as the current president of the United States.

The second is that much of Islam entirely rejects the Enlightenment. Contemporary American Muslims are, for the most part, not the problem because they are Americans. It's about culture, as Richard Landes insists.

The Muslim Middle East has, generally, rejected the Enlightenment and thus has rejected the entire basis of rational political thought grounded in notions of human rights.

And then, of course, there is the weakening of Enlightenment political traditions in Europe due to the great migration of Arabs with little interest in those traditions.

Our hope is in countries like Israel, the United States, Australia, and Canada.

      Particularly Israel.

      :O)

      So we fight like hell.

  4. Don't worry about disagreeing. It's healthy.

I have very good friend, I think I told you about him. My beef with him was that he NEVER disgreed with me. We finally, a few days, ago reached a new level in our relationship. More or less at my insistence, he disagreed with me !!

I told him that's great, as long as it's not too frequent an occurrence!!
