STAND UP FOR ISRAEL!

This Thursday 5- 6 PM

This Friday, 4- 5 PM,

456 Montgomery Street San Francisco (the Israeli Consulate building)

Over 1,000,000 Israelis are in bomb shelters right now. More than 150 rockets (and counting) have been fired into Southern Israel from Gaza so far this week. School is canceled, and life has come to a standstill. The brave men and women of the IDF are acting to protect their fellow citizens against Hamas rockets.

Israelis aren't the only ones suffering as a result of Hamas' decision to continue launching rockets against Israel. Even though the IDF takes more precautions to safeguard civilians than any other army in the world, Palestinian civilians living under Hamas rule will invariably suffer as well-- and their suffering will be cynically manipulated by the other side that sees Palestinian casualties as just another weapon in the war of public opinion against Israel.

And right now, around the world, anti-Israel groups, whether Islamist or secular, are organizing to take to the streets to try to put public pressure on Israel to stop defending itself. To these haters, Hamas rockets fired at schools in Sderot and Beersheva are "legitimate resistance"; but Israeli pinpoint operations to eliminate those responsible for the terror are "massacres".

San Francisco will be one of the front lines for these hate groups. They will be holding their "Palestine will be free from the river to the sea" demonstration, almost certainly with Hamas flags, in front of the building that houses the Israeli Consulate on Friday afternoon.

StandWithUs/SF Voice for Israel will be there to counter their lies. On Friday, we will bring Israeli and American flags and signs in support of Israel. If you are coming on Thursday, please bring your own. If you want to make your own, we highly recommend these, which can be printed at any copy shop with a large format printer:

Please do not bring signs or graphics offensive to any racial or ethnic group including but not limited to Arabs, Islam, or Palestinians. Signs in violation of our policies will not be allowed.

This is the chance for our community to stand together in support of Israel and its right to defend its citizens from rocket attacks. Because this is a highly newsworthy event, we anticipate that there will be TV and other media there. Let's show the haters that the pro-Israel community in the Bay Area stands proudly with Israel.

  1. Here's a list of other similar 'protests' nationwide, courtesy of an anonymous poster at DivestThis!

I'll be working my regular semi-monthly senior food distribution volunteer slot at the Federation building three blocks from the Philadelphia 'protest' on Friday at that time, from noon to 2-ish, but I'll be able to stop by as I get off the subway around 11:30 or so, to see if I can do anything to help out the counter-protest.

I'll also head on over there right afterward to see if anything's still going on then, and believe you me I'll also keep an eye on their actions around here thereafter...

    1. Btw, note how many 'protests' on the list are just starting at 4 or later on a Friday, after we set the clocks back and now that it gets dark before 5.

      Hmm...

  2. This being Philadelphia, I'm pretty sure the 'protestors' will turn off any normal people anyway, what with the fact that I'm absolutely certain there will be at least half a dozen signs calling for the release of police murderer Mumia Abu-Jamal mixed in amongst the assorted misfits and losers. Maybe they'll even kick off their Rafael Jones defense movement, as well...

  3. And now I'm off to pack and distribute dozens of food bags to low-income seniors (I do a pretty bad job of being a hardcore, radical Republican eh?), and see if I can lend a hand to the folks countering the lies of the Hamas apologists who will be gathering in Center City in a couple hours. And then see if I can't actually make a few dollars later this evening, too. Is it January yet?

    Back tonight with a report!

  4. Well, CBS and ABC are here at JFK & 19th, but I don't smell any Hamas supporters yet. Phones dying, so I'm out for now. Till tonight!
