British, French FMs preparing plan to restart talks between Israel, Palestinians to be presented in March. 'It will drive us into a corner,' say Israeli officials
The European Union is working on a detailed plan meant to restart Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and establish an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital, Yedioth Ahronoth quoted Israeli diplomatic sources as saying.
The plan will set a clear timetable for a discussion on all core issues over the course of 2013. It will likely be presented in March after a new Israeli government is formed.

EU working on new Mideast peace plan
Mike L.
Fitting illustration. Also -
ReplyDelete"with east Jerusalem as its capital."
No.
Make peace with THESE types? Yeah, right.

Cosign.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to expand a bit on my flippant comment above, Israel can ultimately do whatever they feel is best, and I'll support that choice, whatever it is.
I do believe dividing Jerusalem now would be a bad decision, though. From an urban planning standpoint, as well as from a "fuck off, youze have long since blown your chance to share our capital" one.
Apparently the EU plan will include a provision demanding total settlement freeze.
ReplyDeleteBoy, that's brilliant. They must have learned how effective that racist demand is by observing Obama's terrific success with it.
Then, of course, when they do not get the total settlement freeze they'll turn around and blame Israel for the fact that so many Arabs want to see Jews dead.
In your dreams mate!!
ReplyDeleteNo way will Jerusalem ever be divided again. Look what happened the last time it was in Arab hands.
***NEVER***
It seems to me that the question of Jerusalem should represent a line in the sand between the old delusional Oslo politics and the realist views that are currently emerging in both diaspora-Jewish and Israeli politics.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard for me to fathom how anyone paying attention can still believe that if Israel divides the city of our ancestors that it will bring about peace. It won't. Quite the contrary, it will represent a huge sign of weakness and will invite violence against our friends and family in the Jewish state.
Given this fact, I would characterize anyone, particularly any Jew, who still thinks that dividing the city is desirable as beyond the realm of reasonable thinking. It's not very long ago that I believed otherwise, but we're in a new era, now.
The Arabs have forfeited the right to any part of Jerusalem as a capital for another country due to their continued persecution of the Jews in the Middle East.
Fucking Blogger. I typed a long, in-depth reply on a number of issues and then hit 'preview' only to see a big orange B and a "whoops, there's an error! sorry, try again!"
DeleteI lost it all.
So let me try to summarize quickly.
Based upon everything else we've seen from the Palestinian leadership, are we to really believe that they'll have in mind the best interests of any Jerusalemites unfortunate enough to end up under the rule of whatever terrorist basketcase organization ultimately comes to preside over a future Palestine?
I'm thinking no.
Even in the best of circumstances, divided cities just don't work, from an urban planning standpoint, from a public transit standpoint, etc etc.
And again, "East Jerusalem," so-called, will not be considered a capital city to said terrorist organization. Let's drop the bullshit. It will simply be considered the most convenient base for terror operations to continue the long Arab war against the Jews.
Why on earth give them that?
They've 'earned' Ramallah. Enjoy.
Now that Hamas grownup and quit terrorizing Israel with rockets. Zionists are axed from tainted mainstreaming to harvest American fools sympathies to arm Israel for free. Iran nuke circus cost Israel dearly. EU & DC need another Redherring intentionally, misleading and distracting to buy time for failing Middle East Thugocracies & their privileged scions to pick up their loots and flee west. Syrian stalemate is good precedent to scare off & discredit Arabspringers. Now EU & DC desperately trying to tame those failing Middle East Thugocracies for Israel to bribe and f✡ck. Wasting time meeting PA leader Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah Party without Hamas is another way to kill the Arabspring. Israel will screech to get Jewish State recognized from Failing Middle East Thugocracies. Israelis wish to waste another 62 years begging. Good Luck. It’s too stooopid Jewish Cobblers. Jonathan! To tell Obama: “As with much of rest of his Middle East Foreign Policies, it seems the administration is prepared to “lead from behind” on this track and throw its support behind European initiative, marking significant policy departure from past efforts in which the president made Israel-Palestinian issue priority. A sign that Obama has finally learned his lesson about Middle East. EU plan is doomed to failure, perhaps he prefers not to waste any of his time or his precious political capital in second term on the Middle East”. What a load of bollocks?
ReplyDeleteFirst things first, sir, I will have you know that I do not repair shoes for a living.
DeleteAlso, I dig your headgear. And your extremely creative censoring of the word "fuck." There are a dozen and a half neo-Nazis in Idaho right now, holed up in a double-wide kicking themselves for not having come up with that first. A glance at your blog shows that you do not think highly of African-Americans, either. This does not surprise me.
Of course, you're not all bad. Nobody who's a fellow fan of Jeff Buckley's masterpiece, Grace, one of the greatest albums of all time, can ever be totally bad!
Now excuse me while I go harvest some arms for Israel or something. That was some sly wording, too, my friend... ;)
It's not very often that we get comments from people from the United Arab Emirates.
DeleteIn case you guys are interested, our audience comes primarily from the US with Russia and Australia representing a distant 2nd and 3rd.
On the week these are the pageviews:
United States 1581
Russia 181
Australia 106
Germany 93
Ukraine 93
Canada 90
Israel 80
United Kingdom 32
France 29
Indonesia 13
The Indonesia numbers fascinate me. We have a reader there!
DeleteWe need, btw, to find out who the Indonesians are.
DeleteI am suddenly put to mind of Mad Magazine sometime in the 1950s or 1960s in which they had exactly one subscriber from Puerto Rico and, or so they say, at some point that one subscriber cancelled.
Therefore the crazy people who wrote that magazine, which I loved as a child, actually flew to Puerto Rico and banged on the guy's door!
Can you imagine??
:O)
They just did it on a lark. The guy comes to his door and they're like, "Hi! We're writers and editors from Mad Magazine and you've cancelled your subscription and we want to know why?!"
Hysterical.
{I read this somewhere.}
Only MAD could go to Puerto Rico. And only Doodad can go to Indonesia...
Delete;)
My own silly little blog has actually recorded five visits from Indonesia this month, btw, so I don't quite know what to make of that. I just checked, out of curiosity.
DeleteNo comments from the UAE, however... ;)
