Mideast conflict's wallet

Mike L.
Op-ed: European governments funding Palestinian annihilation campaign against State of Israel

1) The European Union, including all its member states and the organizations that are funded by it, is the main contributor to the process in which the Palestinian nation is becoming chronically dependent on foreign aid.

2) Europe is actively supporting a policy that perpetuates the Palestinian refugee problem, which the Arab countries are trying to take advantage of in order to bring about the demise of the State of Israel.

3) The Europeans are supporting the Palestinians while completely disregarding the Palestinians' lack of commitment to the "two-state" solution and their refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state - despite the fact that UN resolutions obligate them to do so. Furthermore, European governments continue to transfer funds to the Palestinians despite being well-aware that the Palestinian Authority – which is headed by Fatah and Hamas – is educating generations of young people to continue the struggle against Israel until it is annihilated. And all this while social and economic chaos threatens the entire Old Continent.
Reports have come in suggesting that the EU intends to shove some "peace plan" down the throat of the Israelis come march.  This "peace plan" will contain provisions demanding that Israel divide the ancient Jewish city of Jerusalem and stop all building of homes for Jewish people in Judea.

Given Europe's long history of hostility toward Jews and it's current hostility to the Jewish state, Israel should ignore the EU or just patronize it in order to maintain diplomatic and economic ties.

The very last thing that any forthcoming Israeli government should do is encourage EU participation in the long Arab war against the Jews in the Middle East.  They will claim that they want peace in the region, but all they will do is inflame things further and then blame Israel for racist Arab hostility toward it.

The Europeans are NOT helpful in this matter.  On the contrary, they are toxic.

  1. They've got some nerve, doing this before even settling the Al-Andalus conflict! I suggest Portugal, Spain and France sit down at that same table and hammer out some sort of Cordoba Accords, as well. Those imperialist racist colonialists.

    Occupy Wall Street. Not Al-Andalus!

    ;-P

    1. Free Free Andalus!

      Free Free Andalus!

The Europeans have colonized and ethnically-cleansed Andalusia of its indigenous Arab population and it maintains this occupation by brute military force.

      Free Free Andalus!

I'm sure that's unintentional, haw haw haw.

  3. Aren't you aware of the fact that a huge amount of money from European governments is being given to support the New Israel Fund?

    1. The "New Israel Fund" is an interesting case. Once their goals are near accomplishment, they can simply turn that "e" into an "o" and drop the "w," and the eventual "No Israel Fund" can even keep their current acronym!

    2. Shirl, is that question directed at me?

And if it is, just why is it?

  4. Although it's much more diplomatic in certain spots than I would be, I greatly enjoyed reading this response to BDS from one of its targets.

    3) If the Eilat Festival is financed in part by the Israeli government, it demonstrates their openness towards culture and jazz, which only benefits the examination of cultures in general. A dictatorship would not invite foreign artists, quite the reverse. Jacky's fans in Israel are like all other jazz fans, humane, pacifist and hoping for peace in this part of the world. They are your best allies and yet you seem to want to punish them. Moreover, the Eilat Festival is an international festival recognized for its quality and its openness to the world.

    [...]

    5) You say that certain Palestinians won't be able to attend Jacky's concert and that is indeed very sad; we would be happy to play in Palestine, if ever invited (this still hasn't been the case). We are not responsible for this situation and can only deplore it. The road to a better world is a long one.

    [...]

    7) Your activism and your intolerance are abominable. Phony Facebook "fans" have posted messages expressly asking our musicians not play in Israel. This is sheer harassment. Moreover, it's really quite surprising because these fans purporting to sway the artists are not fans at all, but simply your army of little soldiers polluting the calm and positive spaces of our artists'Facebook pages.

    8) During our phone conversation, you insinuated quite slyly that you were a big fan of Jacky Terrasson, that you used to buy his records and attend his concerts, but that you would think twice about it now, knowing he plays for Israel. Your questionable words, like the tone of your last email, won't change our convictions. I don't believe for an instant that you are a fan of Jacky Terrasson.

  5. I apologize for the harsh writing that I wrote in my previous two comments. I wrote in anger what I wrote in my previous two comments, and what I wrote in my previous two comments is harsh writing. And, because I wrote in anger what I wrote in my previous two comments, and because what I wrote in my previous two comments is harsh writing, I think that what I wrote in my previous two comments may be unbeneficial.

    However, I say to Europeans,

I don't blame you for what your people did to the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago. And I forgive what was done by your people to the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago. And I forgive you for what, today, you are doing to the besieged endangered newly re-founded liberal democratic very small sole nation of the Jewish people. But what, today, you are doing to the besieged endangered newly re-founded liberal democratic very small sole nation of the Jewish people is evil. Stop doing what you are doing to the besieged endangered newly re-founded liberal democratic very small sole nation of the Jewish people.

  6. And in my referring to Europeans who murdered the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago, or who supported the murder of the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago, I was referring only to European people who murdered Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago, or who supported the murder of the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago. In my referring to Europeans who murdered the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago, or who supported the murder of the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago, I was not referring to European people who opposed the murder of the Jewish people in Europe approximately seventy years ago.

And in my referring to Europeans who are attacking the besieged, endangered, newly re-founded, liberal democratic, very small, sole nation of the Jewish people, Israel, I am referring only to European people who are attacking Israel. In my referring to Europeans who are attacking the besieged, endangered, newly re-founded, liberal democratic, very small, sole nation of the Jewish people, Israel, I am not referring to European people who are supporting Israel.

I very much appreciate European people who are supporting Israel.
