Quick Note on Reem's

Michael Lumish

Because we have no local Jewish institutional support I do not see that we can do much concerning the genocidal Jew Hatred on display at Reem's Restaurant (510-852-9390) in the Fruitvale Bart Station in Oakland, California.

It needs to be understood that this mural of glorified "feminist" and Jew Killer, Rasmea Odeh, glares out at everyone who goes into and out of a major transportation hub in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is not some lonesome restaurant.

There are hundreds of thousands of people who live in Oakland, or surrounding areas, who use the Fruitvale BART station going to and from San Francisco.

Everyday, as those people walk by that face - or drop in for some flatbread at Reem's on the way home from work - they are being taught that killing Jews is not only fine, but heroic.

As someone who lives in the area I was actually looking forward to eating there before I realized that Reem's quite literally promotes violent hatred toward the Jewish people in a public way.

She and her people promote it. They glorify it and, thereby, make it acceptable and perfectly normal.

They, in fact, represent a toe-hold of Palestinian-Arab political hatred toward Jews in the Bay Area. Generally speaking, Palestinian-Arab political hatred toward Jews in the United States has primarily expressed itself within the academe in the form of "anti-Zionism."

Now we are seeing that hatred expressed in a popular, street manner that glorifies the murder of Jews, in general.

Rasmea Odeh killed two young Jewish college students in Jerusalem, along with injuring nine other people, in an attack carried out by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in 1969.

That may sound like a long time ago, but this woman is a current political actor on the American scene.

She is now considered something of a feminist hero and is an associate of Sharia-promoting, faux-feminist, Linda Sarsour.

The problem is that there is no will to fight this in the Bay Area because Bay Area Jews are weak.

Our numbers are far too small and the various pro-Israel / pro-Jewish organizations do not really give a damn or simply refuse to stand up.

If Faith Meltzer had any support then we could fight back. We could gather greater numbers and gain some legal backing. We could discuss matters, perhaps, with Reem's landlord. We could put pressure on the city.

As a Jew that cares, I am all-in.

But if this represented a poker hand, I would toss in those cards in a New York minute.

  1. Call the health department on them hourly, by the thousands. Burn down their Yelp reviews. If they have an online ordering portal, clog it up. Destroy them on facebook and twitter.

    1. Great ideas, Trudy. And it doesn't need to come only from Jews in the Bay Area. And non-Jews should be welcomed as well.

    2. There is no organization... this is what astonishes me.

  2. "Reem Assil, a local anti-Israel activist and member of the extremist Arab Resource Organizing Center (AROC) solicited her political connections to shut down complaints about her new bakery. Anti-Israel activists from as far away as Texas, many who have never set foot in the bakery were quick to leap to her defense, sharing notes on how to game the Yelp review process, and chortling over their success in shutting down negative reviews...."

IF enough Pro Israel people cared to fight a good fight and not feel yucky for doing it, this repulsive business would be out of business in short order. Alas....

    1. Yes, the anti-Israel Left is good at this, but it doesn't mean we can't give them a taste of their own medicine. Odeh is not a feminist, she's a terrorist. The feminist thing is a mask, just like the freedom fighter, resistance bullshit is. Even under Humanitarian Law, murder is murder. A revulsion to terrorism is something that resonates with countless Americans. (What next, a poster of Osama bin Laden at Powell Street BART? )
Call Pam Geller. Get this publicized to a wider audience.
Did you expect the owner to take it down? Never mind that, just expose it to outrage.
It's tough, because you have a Left out there that will stand up for the owners right to free speech - the irony being that they don't actually believe in free speech. This is something my wife found out first-hand when she attempted to see Benjamin Netanyahu speak in Berkeley during the 1990's when he wasn't prime minister.

  4. Entrepreneurialism takes an ugly turn in Oakland, California.

On July 8, a small group of senior citizens conduct a silent, peaceful vigil outside an Oakland bakery. Shortly after their arrival, they are confronted by a group of thugs.

Sometimes a single event is a microcosm of larger and more dynamic forces. The vigil outside the bakery was such an event.

On the one hand, this is a purely American story of entrepreneurship in the manner of 19th century Horatio Alger stories of individual achievement. On the other hand, it’s a grim story of the deterioration of civility and the Left’s increasing use of violence in contemporary politics.

  5. One or two people standing outside with the story of Odeh, including how she lied to get US citizenship, should be there every peak period. Silently protesting. Grandmas preferred. Easier said than done, but they celebrate an American criminal besides her other sickening conduct.

    1. Lying to get US citizenship is something Odeh and Reem's supporters like.
The problem here as I understand it, is that during the initial peaceful protest the old ladies and gents were met with violence.
BART won't even release footage of thugs who were victimizing commuters.

Two articles just read. The first I found to be an error riddled polemic full of projected fantasies. The second, I found both moving with a quite sensible conclusion.

    1. They got a big problem. Eventually they will have to face it, but first they will wait until it gets ridiculously and tragically out of hand. There will be much violence and destruction before any semblance of normalcy returns.
It didn't take long to forget all the lessons of the 20th Century.
