On protecting journalists

Sar Shalom

Several months ago, the world was outraged when Saudi Arabia murdered Jamal Khashoggi. Many figures have called for the US to establish more distance with Saudi Arabia in response. How many figures doing so would react similarly if Mahmoud Abbas were to order a similar hit on Khaled Abu Toameh?

  2. Abbas is a protected official victim. Pay for slay comes to mind. Yet the money keeps rolling on in. You can bet the hand wringers would contort themselves into pretzels explaining how the fascist Israel lover Toameh had it coming.

  3. Very few.

    Those of us who care about the Jewish people understand about the never-ending double-standard.

  4. Unfair double-standards are not unusual in places
    where the political Far-Left exerts its massive powers.

    Some examples, that most people overlook:

    ===================================

    The #MeToo movement is a male-bashing kangaroo court that deprives the accused of their constitutionally-guaranteed rights and an anti-male witch-hunt whose evils surpass those of the infamous Senator Joseph McCarthy, who was the inspiration for the word McCarthyism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarthyism

    Thousands of men have been destroyed by false accusations from women, thousands of men have been destroyed by emotional abuse from women, thousands of men have been destroyed by unfair divorce courts, thousands of men have been destroyed by draconian anti-sexual harassment laws that fire men for trivialities that should have been ignored and forgotten – and NOBODY CARES!

    ===================================

    Men are more than 90% of workplace fatalities.

    Men are more than 90% of prison inmates.

    Men are more than 90% of American homeless people.

    Men are more than 90% of people destroyed by divorce courts.

    Men are more than 90% of military fatalities and wounded.

    If any of these problems were happening to women,
    then solving those problems would be a high priority.

    But because they are happening to men, NOBODY CARES.

    ===========================

    Feminism has resulted in laws and courts that unfairly discriminate against men.

    For example: In most American states, and in France, a man can be legally required to pay child support for all of his ex-wife’s children, even if he can PROVE that he is NOT the father of those children!

    If the man gets fired or laid-off from his job, and is unable to make the court-mandated child support payments, he get sent straight to jail, even if his inability to make the court-mandated child support payments was not his fault. He must always pay that money, and no excuses will be accepted.

    If a woman is commanded by the court to make child support payments, which is very rare, the woman will not be sent to jail if she fails to pay.

    If a woman attempts to get her male co-worker fired with an accusation, and that accusation is later proven to be intentionally false, then the woman who intentionally made the false accusation will probably never be penalized in any way.

    Can you understand how these things are unfair to men?
    Can you understand why men are avoiding marriage?
    Can you understand why men are avoiding women?

    ===========================

    In American corporations, if a man complains that the presence of another man makes him feel uncomfortable, then his complaint will be laughed-at and ignored.

    But if a woman complains that the presence of specific man makes her feel uncomfortable, then her complaint immediately places that man on the defensive, and may result in him being quickly fired from his job, even if he never did anything wrong, and never said anything wrong.

    And if that doesn’t work, then she can get her female friends to make the same complaint against that man, and the chances of that man getting fired are 99.99%. This is not difficult for most women to accomplish, because most women are perfectly willing to lie and swear falsely to help their female friends.

    American corporations are terrified of lawsuits by women complaining about a hostile work environment, and those corporations are perfectly willing to fire innocent men to avoid those lawsuits.

    BOTTOM LINE:
    Any woman can get any man fired from his job,
    without cause, simply because she does not like him.

    When will men get equal rights?

    1. I don't know where you practice law, but your description is beyond bizarre for those of with experience in the field. Certainly there are results that are perceived to be unfair by one side or the other, but the extremism your describe is not the norm.

  5. Khaled Abu Toameh doesn't write for the Washington Post, does he? Khashoggi did.
    So, on that basis alone American pundits and journalists wouldn't make a big deal out of it if they chose to mention it at all, which they probably would not.

    Toameh is one of the good guys. Khashoggi? Yuk.
    Q: If Khashoggi had been offed by the Iranians during Obama's tenure would it have made a sound?
    Q: If Yasser Arafat died, would the Western Media push a wild conspiracy theory to blame it on Israel?

  6. The important thing is to set forth your axioms and then apply them to all sides. I don't like Abbas because he is an oligarch who runs a plutocracy. I don't like that form of government, it leads to conflict internally and internationally. But I also don't approve of Putin, Kim, Xi or MBS. The list could go on much longer, but the point is that I try to be consistent. We can't say that Putin is ok or MBS is ok but Abbas is not. They're all reprehensible and worthy of condemnation. The same is true of of Acosta and Krisher. Democrats want the head of Acosta and Republicans want to blame Krisher. The both have a lot of explaining to do.

    1. One standard for different leaders and states is too rigid. Abbas is not Putin. MBS is not Xi. Approval does not matter. They are going nowhere.

      Are you saying, as it appears, that if Abbas was not an oligarch or plutocrat, would you then like him?

      Inconsistency is not the same as hypocrisy. Is Netanyahu on the list? Is Trump?

    2. If Abbas were not an oligarch, that would certainly be better. However, that I don't like oligarchs does not mean I like all non-oligarchs. Read some basic logic, say Introduction to Logic by Copi.

  7. While Abbas certainly talks anti-semitism, hatred is the tool of most oligarchs. What is really in his heart is beyond my knowledge. If he were not a ruthless dictator, that would certainly be much better.

    1. Talks antisemitism? Unbelievable!

      Just a convenient blurb From Melanie Phillips today:

      Mahmoud Abbas, viewed by the western left as a statesman-in-waiting, has a doctorate in Holocaust denial, explicitly venerates the Palestinian Nazi-ally Haj Amin al Husseini who undertook to slaughter every Jew in the Middle East in the event of Hitler’s victory, and uses his media outlets to transmit medieval and Nazi-style demonization of the Jews.

      https://www.melaniephillips.com/labour-party-deal-jew-hatred/

      There are countless examples. It's not the heart, it's the deeds. They evidence the heart. Or would you simply say the same about Hitler?

      You often sing a different tune when you play the morality card, such as implying that others do not care about strangers. Oh well.

    1. Alyssa Cheap Tricks Milano doing some name dropping as if she knows something, anything. This type of politicking is offensive to real history. I don't know what she's famous for, but perhaps she ought to stick to that, rather than use her outsized popularity to weigh in on topics she might not be well-informed about. We might not be able to teach an individual good judgment, but we can teach them not to play with matches in the first place.
