  1. Yep!
I hate euphemisms. This sometimes gets me in trouble.
It is an offense in NYC to say "illegal alien" with some sort of intent to be determined by those will make those determinations of what one means when one chooses which words one wants to use, up to a $250k fine. Well, that's not fine with me nor with the 1st Amendment.
How did "illegal alien," a rather dry description become the scourge of pejoratives? I think we know. A foreigner residing in another country illegally got changed to "undocumented worker." But with strong child labor laws in the U.S., you knew that couldn't last, so we went through several PC iterations including "undocumented Americans." Finally, we've now settled, but trust me, not permanently, on "the undocumented." Once that runs its course, it too shall be changed to a pejorative and have to make way for something else. Just remember Negro, Colored Person, Black, Afro-American, African American, People of Color. Indigenous Peoples Day, i.e., people who migrated to the western hemisphere between 10,000 and 40,000 years ago have now been dubbed with the politically useful name, "Latinos." Latinos are for real, they're authentic and indigenous and have a name derived from a language of southern Europe which didn't exist 10,000 years ago besides Europe not being the place from which they came. "Latinos" are a "group," "Latinos" are a "community," a "majority" in left wing let's-take-power verbiage. The hard left is always trying to construct or manufacture the perception of a majority for their unpopular ideas.
Jews, those wishing to live independently in their historic homeland, as well as the rest of us are known to be thought of as somehow inauthentic imposters, not only not indigenous to their ancient homeland, but to anyplace else really. Where ever Jews are, the legitimacy of their presence is eventually called into question, and even more extremely their legitimacy as human beings as well. This is all antisemitism, and it fits in quite nicely, and I think necessarily with those things mentioned in the previous paragraphs, and with George Carlins hilarious and spot on routine you posted Mike.

These euphemistic titles which the progressive left is currently heavily invested in are pawns in a strong, all-out bid for power. It's all rather seedy, and it won't end well.

  4. Carlin blamed the "soft" language on privileged whites masking their wrongs, and the establishment's indoctrination. Language now has been taken to the extremes by the likes of progressive intellectuals. It was more suprising to hear him call Israelis murderers, then appear to excuse Palestinian terrorism. How would he see things today?

    1. Yes, I heard Carlin do that juxtaposition of Israelis and Arabs a few times. Always found it disturbing, because I don't think he was terribly well-informed about it, but glommed it on to the rest of his shtick much the way "progressives" do today, i.e., fighting back against the perceived wrongs of the establishment. What would he think if he were around? It's an interesting question we'll never have an answer to.
All in all, I still enjoyed his angry style of observational humor, because of him. Not everyone can do it. I never make these guys into gods though as some do with comedians and rock stars. Sad.
I've heard people talk of Roger Waters as the guy with the answer to their lives. I'm always feel embarrassed when I hear such things.

    3. The thing about liberals, generally, is they can enjoy comedy without being triggered.

Apparently, Jackie Mason liked George Carlin, and that says something.

The bit was from 1990. However, he seems to have a blind spot for Palestinian violence toward Israeli innocents and Jews that are the Israeli reality.

It should always be remembered that the Palestinians could have peace whenever they choose to. The longer they wait, the worse the result. Almost all Palestinian suffering is self-inflicted.

  6. How many people here believe Trump should be impeached and removed from office?

How many believe that there should be no impeachment at all?

How many believe we are living though McCarthyite times with the possibility of something much worse in the offing?

    1. How many believe the inquisitors are more honest than the accused?

Liberals are supposed to care about civil liberties. Progressives want to outlaw hate speech, unless it is their own. As we see with the behavior toward Trump and Israel, and people who are beneath them because they do not hate Trump or Israel.

This is worse than McCarthyism. It is mainstream and pervasive. Do progressives care if it results in something worse, or the precedents they set, as they follow like sheep into a collective illiberal conformity to ease their suffering. They have it so bad.

    3. People want another person of Obama's stature: brilliant, thoughtful and caring. I can understand them being disgusted with the orange moron. Too bad Ilhan Omar can't run (we should get rid of that antiquated rule), she'd be my first choice, a well meaning, intelligent Muslim woman of color. She has a lot to teach us.

    4. I'm sure Omar must have something to teach us, everybody does. I'm just not sure she has as much to teach us as, say, Laurel & Hardy.
I'll bet she could listen to Groucho Marx ad lib all day long and not get it. I like listening to Groucho Marx. I don't like listening to Ilhan Omar. I think a world where one gets to listen to Groucho Marx is much better than one where one gets to listen to Ilhan Omar.

The most recent Hamas provocations — having 40,000 Gazans try to tear down the border fence and enter Israel with Molotov cocktails and other improvised weapons — are part of a repeated Hamas tactic that I have called the “dead baby strategy.”

Hamas’ goal is to have Israel kill as many Gazans as possible so that the headlines always begin, and often end, with the body count.

“...Zecharia, like so many of his contemporaries,
worked for a time in a sweatshop.

The shop he worked in, making pocketbooks, was located in a building just east of Washington Square [in Manhattan], site of the ill-fated Triangle Shirtwaist Company.

On the Saturday of the great fire in [March 25,] 1911 [CE] that engulfed the building and killed 145 workers, Reb Zecharia was at home. It was the Jewish Sabbath.

He learned two lessons from this:

he vowed that his children would never become factory workers and he vowed that they would never work on the Sabbath.”

    CHRONOLOGY:
Zecharia Derschowitz moved from Galicia to the USA in 1888 CE.
He was the great-grandfather of Harvard Law Professor Alan M. Dershowitz.
