O Jerusalem

Mike L.

The Obama administration refuses to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel. Some will argue that this was also the case with GWB and with Bill Clinton, as well, but the fact of the matter is that neither of those administrations were quite so eager on wanting to withhold the capital of the Jewish nation from the Jewish state. Furthermore, during the Bush II years, and throughout the Clinton administration, the peace process was ongoing. Through that period most liberal Jews, including myself, still hoped that a negotiated end of hostilities was quite possible. But this was before the Obama administration threw any such possibilities into the toilet.

Going forward we must insist that the president, whoever he is, recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the state of Israel and move the American embassy there.

It seems to me that this is a very good place to draw the line... a good place to make a stand.

This will also, by the way, make for a clean distinction between the radical Left and regular liberals. The radical Left will oppose the idea of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital, but liberals will not.
