Reuven Has Some Words

Mike L.

Our hope is not yet lost... To be a free people in our land -- Hatikvah
Zionism is a movement of national liberation. It is simply the belief that we are like any other people and that like any other people we are entitled to a state to call our own. That state is Israel. It is in our ancestral homeland. That part of our hope has been realized for over 60 years. Israel is not a perfect state, but it is the Jewish state. It is a place where we can be Jews in a Jewish land. It is a place where we can determine our own fate. It is a place where we are the top rungs of society and bottom rungs and everything in between.

For 2,000 years we wandered. For 2,000 years we were dependent upon the goodwill and tolerance of others. For 2,000 years our fate was outside our own hands. When Israel came into existence all that change. Suddenly we controlled our own fate. Yes, her neighbors refused to accept her and launched a war to annihilate her. Even today, most countries in the Middle East do not officially recognize Israel's right to exist. Still, despite that, Israel is a little piece of land that we, as a people, can call our own. It is a country we can be proud of, even if we do not agree with every decision her government makes. It is a place that we know will accept us in times of trouble. No longer do we have to worry about where we will flee if our neighbors ever turn against us.

There is a country that will accept us.
Indeed.

  1. One of the very best things I've read lately, in a week where I've read a lot of great things so far...

  2. Oh, this is all kinds of fun...

    In fact, saying that a Jew... (13+ / 0-)
...is spouting stuff that sounds as if it came from the Protocols is just short of calling someone a Nazi. It shouldn't be forgotten that some historians have argued, with good cause, that Hitler & Cronies used the Protocols as a rationale for the Holocaust. So what label is being attached when somebody says a person sounds as if he is echoing the Protocols. Personally, I'd call that way over the line.

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

Says the guy who claimed the Nazis were a blip. What a truly brave man, saying such things about VB he never would have had the nerve to say were he still allowed to defend himself there. I'm only sorry I once respected Meteor Blip.

    1. Meteor Blip's sigline says -

Don't tell me what you believe. Tell me what you do and I'll tell you what you believe.

Advice duly taken, Mr. "The Nazis were a Blip."

His sensitivity to Nazi comparisons clearly only run in one direction, even when claims to that direction are totally imaginary.

That's "what he does." And it's obvious to anyone what he believes.

    2. Another funny thing is seeing long-banned 'tony the American Mutt' zombie 'aeou' engaging in comments there, of course, but that's another matter altogether.

And with that, I suppose I need to step away from the meta stuff there in that piece, and go to bed... ;)

    3. Oh, but one more. Wait. When did this happen?

Poor little lunatic antisemite blueness, couldn't sofia save her bigot soulmate from BoJo?! Ha ha ha!

    4. I love meta, actually.

Meta is talking about just how we talk about politics and, speaking strictly for myself, I can think of no finer, no more useful, time spent.

Which is why it's shocking that I am still married!

      :O)

    5. Heh. I almost married once, when I was much younger. I ended up only coming away with a kid instead, though, which turned out better, in our case, in the end... ;)

  3. Livosh was always the biggest pussy in that bunch. That spineless little lying sack of shit couldn't find a pair of balls in a bowling alley, so nothing he says ultimately matters in the end. That dhimmi is simply assuming the position for Karl Rover, Flyswatterbanjo, angry marmot and the rest of those ones, in the hope that they'll perhaps maybe give him a lil' scratch behind the ear for once.

"Pretty please! See, I hate those same Bad Guys that you do! Please accept me!"

He's a severe discredit to all who associate with him. He didn't even oppose BDS until others told him it was okay to do so.

  4. And the really funny thing is that eventually, he'll find out the Daily Kos antisemite brigade still thinks the same of him as they do of you and me and everybody else who doesn't oppose an immediate end to Israel...

  5. *doesn't support

Of course, that's what I meant!

    ;-P

  6. LOL Jay. I really find it amusing that his only real support for VB in that diary was not about any of the issues that caused VB to do it but only to defend him from liking us! Assuming the position indeed.

    1. I also note he had nothing to say to the antisemitic "Israel Firster" smear artist there, either. Probably because he's out conducting a survey as to whether he's allowed to oppose that term or not...
