I guess it started when I was working on my dissertation.
Laurie and I had moved back to San Francisco from State College, Pennsylvania, and I was teaching at City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University. A buddy of mine pointed me toward Daily Kos and I joined (under the nom de blog "Karmafish") because I was disgusted with the Bush II administration and opposed to the war in Iraq. At the time I did not know a whole lot about the ongoing Arab-Muslim war against the Jews in the Middle East, but one thing that I learned quickly was that there is an awful lot of hatred, particularly coming from the progressive-left, toward the Jewish state of Israel.
After they banned me for mocking them in the spring of 2010 in a brief satirical piece entitled, “Breaking: Jew Builds Second Bathroom in East Jerusalem,” I started up this joint. Shortly thereafter Doodad, another Daily Kos refugee, showed up, along with Oldschooltwentysix to lend a hand. Later Daniel Bielak also dropped in and recently Geoffff, from Australia, and Jay in Philadelphia, has joined the crew.
And now (May 8, 2013) I want to welcome Empress Trudy and Ziontruth to our front page, as well.
While we don't always agree on the politics, we are pro-Israel, pro-Jewish, and opposed to the rise of political Islam in the Muslim Middle East because of the genocidal nature of that movement. Although Israel Thrives is non-partisan, we tend to be highly critical of the progressive-left due to its acceptance of anti-Semitic anti-Zionism as part of its larger coalition.
Our purpose is simply to think aloud on the Arab-Israel conflict, and American foreign policy in that part of the world, and we hope that you will drop in to say “hello” and maybe share your thoughts.
