UN steps up pressure on Israel over settlements
The four European members of the UN Security Council - France, Britain, Germany and Portugal are criticizing Israel and demanding an immediate halt to new settlement construction. So, despite the fact that the Arabs have refused offer after offer for a negotiated settlement for 75 years, now, and continue to incite genocidal hatred toward Jews while shooting rockets into southern Israel and despite the fact that it was the UN, itself, that just abrogated the terms of Oslo, they blame Israel for wrecking the two-state solution for daring to build housing for its citizenry just outside of the eastern section of Jerusalem.
The European countries issued a statement saying they were "extremely concerned by and strongly oppose" Israel’s plans to expand construction of east Jerusalem neighborhoods and West Bank settlements and urged the Jewish state to "immediately" cease all settlement activities.
"Israel's announcements to accelerate the construction of settlements send a negative message and are undermining faith in its willingness to negotiate," the statement by France, Germany, Portugal and UK read.
"The viability of the two-state solution, that is key for Israel's long-term security is threatened by the systematic expansion of settlements. Settlements are illegal under international law and detrimental to any international efforts to restart peace negotiations and secure a two-state solution…. We call on the Israeli government to rescind these plans and recall that we will not recognize any changes to the pre-1967 borders, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties," the statement read.
This game is rigged. The UN is malicious and the EU is not much better. But what they count on are:
Liberal. Jewish. Suckers.
How is it that a people that is so successful in all sorts of endeavors, from science to art, are something akin to moronic when it comes to politics?
The Arabs are leading the Jews around by the nose and the western powers, including the president of the United States, are helping them do it. Meanwhile nice, well-meaning Jewish liberals think that if only the Jews in Israel would be nicer than they would have peace. If only the Jews would stop trying to protect themselves and allow theocratic murderers ease of access to their children then there would be peace. If only the Jews in the Middle East would jump through enough hoops. If only they would all line up together facing Mecca and hop up and down on one foot while playing the kazoo, then the "Palestinians" would be happy and make nice.
Fools.
The European countries, with the lone, sole exception of the Czech Republic have sold Israel down the river because over the decades Arab-Soviet propaganda has been effective and because basic human decency is too politically inconvenient for the European countries. {Shocking, I know.} Nonetheless, Israel must hold its ground because if it caves it's doomed.
It'll be blood in the water.
Boy, what a relief!
ReplyDeleteJust when we thought "Jewish money" was at risk, in comes good ole' Ira Chernus to assure us that Teh ZOG won't kill us all. Phew!
"There’s a common misconception that the administration worries most about “the Jews.” The latest polls, however, show 73% of U.S. Jews supporting Obama’s policies on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Nearly as many want him to propose a specific plan for a two-state solution, even if it means publicly disagreeing with Israel. Nor is there too much reason to worry about Jewish money, since most Jewish contributors to the Democrats are liberals who are pro-Israel but also pro-peace."
Amongst the dozen other things wrong with that thing, also comes this gem -
"Israeli political life has always been haunted by a fear of weakness and a conviction that Jews are condemned to vulnerability in a world full of anti-Semites eager to destroy them. The hawks’ worldview is built upon this myth of insecurity. It demands instant retaliation so that Jews can show the world -- but more importantly themselves -- that they are strong enough to resist every real or (more often) imagined threat."
Silly 'Zionists.' Oops, oh wait. Chernus didn't even say that. Silly Jooz...
The "myth of insecurity."
DeleteRight, because the bombing of southern Israel for years now simply doesn't count.
What a moron.
Where did these people ever get the idea that violence against Jews does not count as violence?
This is what is perhaps most infuriating. Even as the bombs are dropping they tell the Jewish people that we are "paranoid" and suffer from a "myth of insecurity" even as the mullahs scream to the world their intention to murder Jews and their surrogates carry out that violence.
It's just sickening... and, again, these are supposed to be our political allies?
Ridiculous.
They aren't.
I'm telling you, man, we both come from the political left, but I would not trust that movement for one second when it comes to Jewish well-being.
They honestly do not give a shit.

It's truly amazing, isn't it?
Yup.
DeleteTell the mothers of S'derot and Ashkelon, who see their kids constantly running into underground bunkers for years now, that they are suffering from a "myth of insecurity."
The myopia and cruelty becomes unfathomable.
Btw, isn't it telling how they talk amongst themselves, Mike?
DeleteThere’s a common misconception that the administration worries most about “the Jews."
Love the scare quotes. Pretty much says it all, doesn't it?
I honestly don't know anyone in my everyday life who randomly comes up to me and broaches the topic of the administration's worries about "the Jews." But apparently, to this Approved Progressive, he's quite comfortable addressing a common concern amongst people he knows.
Does anyone really not see the problem here?
But then again, maybe that's because I'm too stoopid to have a Progressive Echo Chamber in my life, as School points out... ;)
