Reem Assil has filed a request for a restraining order against me.
The initial request was denied but it's going before a judge in about a week, or so.
Update:
Also, you guys should know that her lawyers and others are monitoring this site.
The form that I received reads CH-109, TRO DENIED - HEARING ON ORDER PENDING.
This hearing will be on 8/28/17.
But the vast majority of the paperwork that I received is comprised of blog posts from here... including your comments.
So, the thing of it is, Assil's lawyers are going thru this material.
Good for them.
The coppers got nothin' on me, man.
This is a video shot by a friendly person but it gives people some sense of what this tiny protest was like.
I am the guy who appears at the 3:02 mark crying out that Reem's antisemitic restaurant is "normalizing Jew hatred."
You dangerous dude, you. Hope no one mistakes you for a statue.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you let these people into your country?
ReplyDeleteWe do as well but at least it has become controversial.
Start a fight and take the opportunity to state your case. Only tolerate community leaders with balls.
I could go on but only at the risk of getting rude.
Geoff, all that I can tell you is that there is no way these people are going to shut me up.
DeleteTurn it into a business opportunity.
ReplyDeleteOpen a bakery next door with a full sized mural of Baruch Goldstein on the wall.
I'll bet you will sell a heap more bread.
I like the idea, although I was thinking Arik Sharon.
DeleteI'm not certain that Dershowitz would go with that tactic.
ReplyDelete:O)

Is this all because you and 4 other people stood outside her business on a couple of occasions holding up signs while being threatened?
DeleteOld Jews are apparently considered very dangerous to those who take such delight in their murder such as soon to be deported terrorist Ramsea Odeh, who murdered at least two and then lied on her immigration forms multiple times.
I should think that the act of hanging an adoring picture of someone like that in one's place of business might be considered a bit controversial and even offensive to law abiding people.
To Reem's legal team: Feel free to use the above statement.
A number of years ago, the KKK staged a rally in Pulaski, Tennessee which is the town where that noxious organization started. The town didn't want the march, but the KKK had a permit. The town shut down, the marchers couldn't go to a public bathroom because there weren't any. That's the correct way to treat these crazies, ignore them. Juan Cole is less than ignorant, he spreads his nonsense on his blog. Martin Kramer and Yaacov Lozowick spent a couple of posts refuting his babbling, but then stopped because there was no use in giving him recognition. That's how you should treat Assil. In the meantime, we should be more concerned about how Republican leadership will really react to Donald Trump. The will say the right things, but then do nothing because they need Trump's haters to accomplish their one and only goal: More money for the rich.
ReplyDeleteGive it a break already.
DeleteDemocrats say the right things because they need anti-Trump haters, and then they line their pockets while foisting the story they care about the little man.
DeleteHer lawyers are moniternig this site? Hey guys. Get a haircut and get a real job. One that doesn't involve shilling for a Jew hating terrorist lover.
ReplyDeleteIt's a restraining order against harassment. Protesting genocidal Jew hate should not be seen as harassment.
ReplyDeleteEven more reason to take these people on.
ReplyDeleteTo give them a pass is the absolute worst thing you can do.
BTW if she and her lawyers can find a Judge who would entertain this thing for more than ten minutes then your country has a grave problem.
Best to draw it out now.
Thank you, good sir.
ReplyDeleteI will take your concerns under serious advisement.
Do you have a copy of the motion/petition.
ReplyDeleteI have a notice of a court hearing that was given to me by local police officer.
DeleteIt must be around 50 pages long, but is almost entirely comprised of copies of pages from Israel Thrives.
There must be underlying papers which present the argument/rationale why a restraining order is required.
DeleteTalk about thin skin. These people champion a bona fide killer and Jew hater, then overreact when it's pointed out.
Contact William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection. He may be interested in this fight. If nothing else, his posts should be fodder for the judge. Here's the last post, in case you have not seen it.

Well, according to the CH-100 form as filed by attorney Rose Mishaan of the Law Offices of Marsanne Weese, Reem Assil claims that I have harrased her.
DeleteThis is rather odd since I never actually even saw her on the day that this harassment is alleged to have taken place.
Harassment can have various forms. Does it say that you were face to face?
DeleteWhat restraint is sought?
You need not say in this forum. A judge can get pissed at a frivolous claim and obvious waste of time, and even sanction a party for such conduct. That the judge denied is a good sign. If they can't meet the burden again, one could see a malicious prosecution or abuse of process action develop.
I do not have a lawyer, but I do have a law firm that intends to get its pound of flesh out of me.
ReplyDeleteReem Assil is backed by attorney Rose Mishaan and the Law Offices of Marsanne Weese in SF.
At the moment, at least, all I have is me... but I am not friendless, either.
Where's that open letter you wrote to Reem's, begging for the chance to talk? You should introduce it as evidence. Asking to speak to a person face to face apparently is "harassment" in the truth optional world of the Palestinian enablers.

DeleteDear Reem,
My name is Michael Lumish and I would like to speak with you.
I am the proprietor of Israel Thrives, a regular contributor to Daniel Pipes' Middle East Forum and Campus Watch, as well as various other pro-Jewish / pro-Israel venues such as The Algemeiner, the Times of Israel, the Elder of Ziyon, and elsewhere.
As a Jewish Oaklander, I am intending to write an article concerning your mural of Rasmea Odeh and what it suggests about ethnic relations in the United States.
What I would like to do, if you are willing, is meet for a snack and a cup of coffee at Reem's for a discussion concerning this.
I know that you are a Palestinian woman standing up for the rights of the Palestinian people, just as I am a Jewish man standing up for the rights of the Jewish people.
Will you meet with me for 10 or 15 to discuss it?
Say, sometime in the morning this week or next?
I very much appreciate your consideration and you have my thanks.
Michael Lumish
{This note is actually being used as evidence against me.}
What about contacting California's senators and Oakland-area officials and inviting them to join a protest?
ReplyDeleteAfter all, a murder-endorsing mural is worse than a Confederate flag; it's more like displaying a burning cross. And if their response is indifference, that in itself would be valuable. Sen. Harris will be running for president soon, and it would be helpful to know her stance on the incitement of lynching.
Oakland's mayor recently tweeted: “We reject hate & bigotry in our communities.”
{http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Protesters-call-for-Oakland-demonstration-against-11813719.php) Surely that applies to Oakland itself.
What about civil disobedience? Protestors staged a "cough-in" at a Trump restaurant (but perhaps only the radical Left can get away with that kind of thing).
Reem's has the word "Bakery" in their name. I wonder if they would they bake a gay wedding cake. Or a cake that says, "Congratulations, Yosef, on joining the IDF. Smash Fatah and Hamas!"
P.S. Just kidding about the "cough-in." It's best to stay outside the restaurant, exercising the right to assembly and free speech.
DeleteIf you're in the restaurant, even merely to attempt to talk to Reem, she can claim you're occupying her territory.
