Reportedly he signed it to "maximize" chances for a negotiated settlement. And, as we know, that's a bunch of hooey. All it signals is business as usual for the usual suspects. I'm guessing Tillerson, the Saudis, etc. applied the pressure. If we're serious about maximizing the chances for a negotiated settlement he should have done the exact opposite, signaling to Abbas that the jig is up, rather than the same policy which has failed for 100 years. Mr. President, don't play around with our sovereign historical rights for some b.s. "big picture" argument. Even the Russians have now recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and notice that the sky didn't fall.
Well, I've avoided jumping on the Anti-Trump Hatred Brigade... mainly because I find it vile... but the decision to sign the waiver makes my life considerably easier because I will simply no longer feel the need to stand up for the guy against all the vile, irrational, and malicious attacks by idiots.
Fair is fair.
And although I do not see myself in the immediate future joining in the chorus of malice, the Trump Haters can hate to their Turkish delight without much complaint from me.
And I will continue to do whatever it is that I do. :0) Seriously though, I will continue to judge Trump critically on his actions and I will judge the irrational nutzo crazies whom I believe pose a threat to the fabric of a once great democracy on their unhinged speech and violence.
Here is some criticism for conservative pro-Trump media. Not much, if any, criticism, and barely a mention of the waiver signing, except for the Jewish radio talk show hosts. Sean Hannity, who keeps applauding Trump for keeping all those Trumpian promises, has had zip to say about this one.
Mike, have a good trip wherever you are off to, but be careful - there are Macedonians out there.
I can understand that Mike. I'm really disappointed with this decision. Personally tho, is it standing up for him or general principles? I see it as the latter.
The Biblical Book of Jeremiah, end of chapter 17, teaches: If the Jewish people observe Shabbat [the Jewish Sabbath] then Jerusalem will be ruled by Jews forever (verses 24 to 25). The Biblical Book of Joshua, chapter 23, verses 12 to 13, reveals that: If Jews intermarry with non-Jews, then He will NOT help the Jews conquer the Land of Israel; and even worse, the sin of intermarriage will cause the Jews to be driven out from the Land of Israel. http://shilohmusings.blogspot.com/2016/11/guest-post-joshua-chapter-23-verse-12.html

Trump lied, I'm stunned. But you miss the larger issue, arms for Saudi Arabia. The Saudis will be receiving ten times the amount of military equipment than Israel gets over the next ten years. Of course, once you realize that Trump's world ends at the tip of his nose and that Republicans care only about money for the rich, you can comfort yourself with the knowledge that the amount of corruption and graft in that deal, more money going to corporate welfare that to workers and jobs, will somewhat lessen the impact. However, the cyber technology will still be a real problem. It will be fine if Saudi Arabia uses its advances against Iran, but what if they use it against Israel?
Good news. The Supreme Court has expedited the Trump request re the travel ban. IF they decide to hear it we could get a decision as early as the new year. Judges.....keeping Americans safe. Gotta love 'em.

London police responding to incident on London Bridge
There is no longer any doubt: the mayhem in London Saturday night has raised Islamic terrorism to a new threat level to the Western world.
The van that plowed into pedestrians on the historic London Bridge, the knife attacks near Borough Market – carried out nearly simultaneously – reflect a boldness and brazenness on the part of the twisted warriors of the Islamist campaign to destroy Western civilization and force us all to worship their version of God.
Coming only a few days before British voters go to the polls for a June 8 snap election, and just months after a similar vehicular attack on Westminster Bridge, the weekend violence is certain to have an effect on turnout and, quite possibly, the makeup of parliament and the next British government.
“My view is that we are no longer facing random acts of terrorism,” says Frank Gaffney, a terror expert who is president of the Washington-based Center for Security Policy. “We have reached a tipping point. This is now an insurgency.”
Gaffney, who has warned of the dangers of Islamic extremism for years, thinks this latest spate of attacks is the natural evolution of years of recruitment among British Muslims by terror cells like ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda.
“The Muslim terrorist population in Britain and Europe no longer feels constrained to live by stealth,” Gaffney says. “They have built an infrastructure, they have put it in place, and now they are moving up to the next level.”
Gaffney calls the new phenomenon “Sharia Supremacism.” And he warns that the United States is on the same trajectory.
He’s right.
For far too long, Western societies, including in the United States, have tried to rationalize what has now become an avalanche of violent hatred of democratic freedom, basic human rights, and freedom to choose if and how to worship. We have asked if some of this is our fault, if we haven’t listened to the voices of religious extremism, or if we have failed to understand their message. The result in Britain: government officials estimate there are more than 20,000 jihadists living among the population.
Here’s their message: We hate you and want to kill you."
Coming to America? Gimme a break. Sarsour is here and the dhimmis are helping her. The Muslim Brotherhood is here and well loved by many. Who knows how many will enter the US by the time the Supremes also reject Trump's ban? Maybe coming to America en masse is a better way to say it.
We need to get a better sense of our immigration vetting procedures and how they've changed from Obama to Trump. It all seems way too vague. And for the life of me, given the fact of the Jihad, I do not understand how the Western left can be so opposed to a strong vetting process. It's partisan bullshit. Team sports.

ReplyDeleteMy fear is that Trump is hankering after the biggest deal of his career. The Big Prize. Peace in the Middle East. If so, God help us all.
DeleteSad but predictable. Some wit convinced him he could go down in history if he got that magical peace deal. Same old same old.
