On public hangings

Sar Shalom

During the runoff campaign for the special US Senate election in Mississippi, many Americans were shocked when the Republican candidate, Cindy Hyde-Smith, said that if asked to attend a public hanging, she would take a front row seat. What I would like to know is, why is there any less of a reaction to this.

Jews of Medina [a city now in Saudi Arabia]
    were steeped in rabbinical tradition.

While celebrating him [Mohammed] as an
    unlearned person, the hadith
    [Islamic holy books] acknowledges
    that Mohammed was confounded by
the learned questions of these Jews.”

“The conquests of Islam made Jews
the subjects of Arab and Muslim rulers
in a wide swath of land, stretching
from the Atlantic coast of Morocco
to the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan.

    Being non-Muslims, these Jews held
    the inferior status of dhimmi,
    which, despite giving them protection
to worship according to their own faith,
subjected them to many vexatious and
humiliating restrictions in their daily lives.”

In 1958, former director of UNRWA
Ralph Galloway declared angrily while in Jordan:

“The Arab states do not want to solve
    the [Palestinian] refugee problem.

They want to keep it as an open sore,
as an affront to the United Nations,
and as a weapon against Israel.

Arab leaders do not give a damn
whether Arab refugees live or die.”

  2. Winston Churchill said this in a
    parliamentary debate 1921 June 14:

“The Wahabis*, Churchill noted, “profess a life of exceeding austerity, and what they practice themselves they rigorously enforce on others.

They hold it as an article of duty, as well as of faith, to kill all who do not share their opinions and make slaves of their wives and children.

Women have been put to death in Wahabi villages for simply appearing in the streets.

It is a penal offense to wear a silk garment.

Men have been killed for smoking a cigarette…”

    PERSONAL COMMENT:

This quote is only about Al Qaeda, but should
we believe that other radical Islamic terrorist
    organizations would behave much differently?

  3. Mr. Cohen:
Could you describe to me the point of the facts you list? The point of this post is that the heirs to Jim Crow are not those supporting Israel, but the Palestinianists. I'm all for a discussion of if that is a valid claim, if the vignette I provided of the hanging of Jews in central Baghdad contrasted with a Confederate nostalgist pining for a public hanging supports that claim, or if it's a worthwhile topic of discussion.

Any of the facts you list would have some place where it is germane to the discussion. Why are they relevant here?

  5. Killing Jews is part of Arab/Muslim culture. Imposing our values on them is supremacist or something.

  6. "A Hamas-run military court has sentenced five Palestinians and an Israeli resident to death for “collaborating” with Israel, the Hamas-controlled Interior Ministry announced on Monday in a memo on its official website.

Five were sentenced to death by hanging and one by firing squad, the ministry said. "

Not a peep from the world community.
