Is or Isn't Israel A Democracy?

Doodad

In the wake of the Omar/Tlaib visit to Israel flap, Omar just today said

"We give Israel more than $3 [billion] in aid every year. This is predicated on them being an important ally in the region and the only democracy in the Middle East. But denying a visit to duly elected members of Congress is not consistent with being an ally, and denying millions of people freedom of movement or expression or self-determination is not consistent with being a democracy,"

 Now that, to me, sounds like she is saying that Israel is NOT a democracy. She also seems to be asking her colleagues, Democrats, to agree and perhaps revisit aid to Israel until it becomes a Democracy. Becoming a Democracy would entail, as far as I can see, allowing her and Tlaib entry despite their BDS and stopping the expansion of settlements on Palestinian lands and ensuring full rights for Palestinians. IOW, following the far left position on I/P which holds Israel at fault and Palestinians as innocent victims driven to killing Jewish babies, teenagers, pregnant moms, etc. through no fault of their own.

I wish Democrats luck in convincing the American public that Israel is not a democracy. This should be some ride.

  1. I can't argue with a word you say Jeff. Hopefully the voters in their districts are asking themselves whether they are the Congresswomen from their district or The Congresswomen from Palestine. To me so far it looks like the later.

    1. Well, yeah. It should be pretty obvious by now what the thrust of their political agenda is. Everything else is just lip service.

  2. 3 billion dollars a year is predicated on giving up Sinai and buying Jimmah Carter his Nobel Peace Prize. Nothing about democracy there. And the moneys are not real, they are discount coupons for purchasing US military equipment.

  5. It's Jimmah Cottah!
    You make a good point. Just as the aid that goes to Egypt is certainly not predicated on some sort of democratic behavior.
    But you have to understand that Ilhan Omar (she's the one in the toibin) just hates Israel and Jews so, so very much, she just can't help it. She can't wait for another to be murdered so she can indulge in sweets. I'm guessing a Nestles' $100,000 bar, because of the Benjamins.

  6. The thing is, Omar and Tlaib are liars and they know they are liars. I generally tend to think that the enemies of the Jewish state, and thus the Jewish people, are sincere, but ignorant or uncaring.

    But when these two came out with the statement that Israel had a "Muslim ban" that's when I knew without a shadow of a doubt that they are both knowing liars.

    They would have to be unless they are honestly innocent of the fact that Muslims are 20 percent of the population and some are in the IDF. They must also know -- it is not possible that they do not -- that Muslims fly into Ben Gurion every day.

    {This despite the fact that Jews are not allowed to even step foot in Saudi Arabia... not that I particularly want to.}

  7. Of course it helps that she has been given PERMISSION to do so by high level Dems who are too afraid of the American voter to do so themselves.. She's one of their little attack Chihuahuas.
