Shabbat Shalom

Who is the artist?

What is this about?

When? Where? What?

  1. It's interesting, but I have zero idea.
    Hopefully, Trudy will enlighten us.

  2. The reindeer is some form of Christian thing. The hunter has fallen to his knees in supplication.

The dogs are trying to work out whose throat they should rip out first. The reindeer's or the hunter's.

You can understand their point of view.

  3. It depicts the vision of St. Eustace (2nd century) who saw a cross between the antlers of a stag he was hunting and immediately converted from paganism to Christianity.
Several centuries later, St. Hubertus apparently had the same vision.
    Shabbat shalom lecha.

  4. The Conversion of St Hubert by Wilhelm Carl Räuber, 1900.

From Wiki, the Vision of Hubertus'_vision

Original Räubers command $1,000 - $4,000 at auction
