A fight for the soul of the Democratic Party

Liz Wagner

A fight for the soul of the Democratic Party is underway, with the far left minority coalition poised to make it the party of socialists.

Jews have been tolerated in this coalition up till now, but our presence has been contingent on our cooperation in the undoing of Israel.

Had Jews fought ferociously, as we should have, against the lies that form the basis of the anti-Israel position of the far left—for example, that Israel is “white,” colonial, expansionist, apartheid and guilty by association with American imperial power—we would have been booted from the coalition long ago.

We maintained limited rights within the coalition through weak resistance to, and sadly for many the active embrace of, every one of those lies. Jews like Greenblatt remain desperate and deluded enough to think they can earn us a place at the new power table that is forming. But there is no place for Jews there.

We failed to fight, and now the Palestinians and Islamists are displacing us.

The only thing that might stop what is happening is for Jews to mount our own campaign of resistance, both inside and outside the Democratic Party.

Unfortunately, Greenblatt reflects the state of Jewish leadership on the left.

Completely co-opted, with little if any understanding of what is happening from a Jewish point of view that isn’t diluted to meaninglessness.

  1. You go out for an evening on the town and begin drinking. You've just finished your 3rd drink and you're feeling so good you order a 4th, not realizing that the 3rd one hasn't yet caught up to you. An hour and a half later you are violently puking into a toilet.
The point is that no matter where you think things are at the moment, they have actually gone much further than you thought.
There must be a full out frontal assault on the fallacious "Palestinian narrative" resembling Sherman's march to the sea.
The "Palestinian cause" (Arab cause) is antisemitic.

  2. As much to do with Ben-Ami and other Jews that target Israel as with the Greenblatts of the world. Sadly, they give cover to the antisemites.

Many Jewish Democrats have walked away from their liberal roots to a progressive reality that rejects the reality of human experience, and the Jewish experience. If they can return to their liberal roots, they will once again speak out for actual human rights, including for themselves.

It's a micro version of the macro happenings going on, as we all transition into a new and uncertain age.

  3. Keith Ellison, an anti-Israel Muslim, became Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee by a UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE of DNC members, according to Wikipedia.

  4. Why are there Jews in America? Jews need to return to their true homeland of Israel. Where they can have some real political fun and games. Where you can raise your children as real Jews and have them marry a Jew of stead of a Shiksa (non-jew).

The antisemitism is blatant. It's an echo chamber. That's what liberal Democrats face from the illiberal progressives.

  7. There is a certain wing of the Democratic Party for which this is true. That does not make it true for the entire party.

    1. The party is poised to split apart. There will be no wings. There will be the hard left and everyone else will be purged, free to either form their own party or join some other. In a way it will make the Jews' choice simpler since they will be shown the door whether they like it or not.

    Nancy Pelosi.

ANOTHER reason to never elect a Democrat again. They are batshit crazy as well as being anti-Israel.

Just going through some old emails and I missed this one from Hunter Lewis at Food & Wine.

    Dear Jeff,

Thank you for your feedback. To dismiss Reem Assil and Reem’s based on the mural of a divisive figure is to deny the full impact of this restaurant, its role in the Oakland community, and its place in a global social and political conversation. We stand by our decision because we see intrinsic value in widening our readers’ understanding of the foodways of the Middle East and expanding the chorus of voices we empower to tell that story.

What a bunch of California 'progressive' gobbledygook.
Needless to say, if Reem's were offering authentic Louisiana cuisine with a mural of David Duke, you know she wouldn't be getting restaurant of the year honors.

    my resonse:

    Agree 100%!

The Democrats have granted official Victim Status to all minorities, EXCEPT FOR THE JEWS, even though Jews are the most persecuted minority in history.

The Democrats are always on the side of The Underdog, EXCEPT FOR THE JEWS, even though Jews are the #1 underdog in history.

If the Democrats gain enough power [G*D forbid], they will ban all travel and all trade between the USA and Israel.

But even after that happens, the Leftist Jews will still continue to vote for the Democrats.

  12. All the crazy erupting today over the Trump Putin summit is breathtaking. Apparently, the traitor Putin puppet Trump believes Putin over his own intelligence sources. You know, the ones trying to convict him of collusion and paying for info about pee tapes etc etc etc. Go figure. ;)

Amazing how the Democrats, who ask the people to trust their decisions, are charging like a speeding locomotive toward the cliff. Smart people don't get hysteric over the smallest item and manifest hate so publicly. Would not trust them to decide whether or not to put the seat down, let alone actual policy.

No one knows for sure, but that seems like where it's going. The progressives are finally showing they are the extremists. They will pay when people cast ballots. If it goes their way, and people believe the type of shrieks heard today, the countdown to 1984 will speed up.

Trump is no saint, and had a variety of flaws, but he reminds of the boy in the room who inconveniently says what others think, but are afraid to, and in the process brings actual change in matters neglected for appearance sake.

    1. One reason it continues and grows worse may be because to admit being wrong about Trump is to admit being wrong about everything. Not easy for elites to accomplish, though in the end they may be forced to swallow reality, especially if people stop buying their narrative.

    2. The Democratic Party has always been a confederation of dissimilar factions held together by organization and brute force. None of these factions are ever strong enough to stand alone and none of them would ever work together except for the common goal of victory. What we have here is one of the factions struggling for supremacy over all the others. The far left faction doesn’t know whether it can rule over all the factions or if it succeeds, will have to purge them all. No one knows how that will play out. All of us not in and of the party should work to keep their infighting at maximum level. Work to ensure they tear themselves to pieces. The more they rape kill and eat each other the better it is for the rest of us.

      Delete
    3. They seem to be tearing themselves to pieces all by themselves. Worse is the damage done to the rest of us by how they poison society by abusing the megaphone to sow unparalleled hatred. If the progressive faction wins, there seems little doubt they will exercise power coercively, and probably exempt themselves with the hardships they put on others.

  15. Agreed that dispelling the lie of the "Palestinian narrative" is existentially crucial.

And a suggestion: Stop using the imprecise counterproductive euphemism, "antisemitism." Use the terms that accurately describe it: anti-Jewish bigotry and genocidal anti-Jewish bigotry. Words matter.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I heard a talk by culturally Muslim, pro-Jewish, liberal-minded, Tarek Fatah in which he said a similar thing, and in which he advised Jewish people to stop using the term "antisemitism" and to use a more accurate and more precise term instead. And he said something like: "Why do Jewish people use the term 'antisemitism?' Because Jewish people like to make things more complicated."

Making things more complicated and therefore more difficult to understand when trying to dispel bigotry which is caused by ignorance and propagation of lies is not good.

Using euphemistic terms which have counterproductive contextual meaning to many people when trying to dispel bigotry which is caused by ignorance and propagation of lies is not good

  17. The only people I have ever heard say "Arabs are semites too" as a response to the term "antisemitism" were either being completely disingenuous about the word's meaning or completely ignorant, (Westerners cannot be excused for not knowing the meaning of the word or giving succor to non-westerners who might not). Yes, antisemitism began as a euphemism - an antisemitic one. That is part of the poison and describes the malevolence of anti-Jewish bigotry quite well, i.e., the term itself is a lesson 101 in how Jew-hate it works.

  18. People who say it are antisemites looking for excuses for their antisemitism. Short and simple.
