  2. Never going to happen.
    Not possible. For many reasons.

Good article by Maajid Nawaz in the Daily Beast:

  3. No one has ever talked about this idea, but leading Muslim clerics of the Middle East (meaning the ones with influence), the guys who you can see on Memri, need to be forced to either defend their views to the UN and the world or have international warrants put out for them, travel bans, asset freezes, etc. Sure the UN is currently friendly territory for many of them but at least these guys would have to so things without the mask.

  4. Of course it is a two front war. The other front is the media.

  6. "The Barbarians Are Inside, And There Are No Gates

    by Mark Steyn

... there's nowhere to get away from it; the barbarians who yell "Allahu Akbar!" are there waiting for you ...when you go to a soccer match, you go to a concert, you go for a drink on a Friday night. They're there on the train... at the magazine office... in the Kosher supermarket... at the museum in Brussels... outside the barracks in Woolwich..I'm tired of Islam 24/7, at Colorado colleges, Marseilles synagogues, Sydney coffee shops, day after day after day. The west cannot win this thing with a schizophrenic strategy of targeting things and people but not targeting the ideology, of intervening ineffectually overseas and not intervening at all when it comes to the remorseless Islamization and self-segregation of large segments of their own countries..."

      Cheers, Mike. ;)

    3. Perhaps there is a tipping point.

In 1683, when all seemed lost, Europe fought back. It will be harder because of Eurabian hole they have created. This is a battle in their neighborhood, and eventually they will act. It will be ugly. If the state does not act to protect the people, the battle may happen in the streets. Hopefully, the pendulum will swing back toward sanity and Europeans will see they have something worth saving. .

Now if someone can harness the destruction of social media, perhaps there is hope for us all.

    4. That's interesting. Do you mean that no one actually does raise the issue because of that reaction? In the UK there are people on the Left who are very anti Islamism and keep saying so. They will probably get accusations of bigotry, Islamophobia, etc but that doesn't stop them. It's not possible to not get accused of certain things these days. Especially on social media.
Can someone on the Californian Left not come out and condemn ISIS?

    5. The Californian Left has turned a blind-eye entirely to Political Islam.

I would argue that the rise of Islam as a political movement is the single most significant geopolitical development since the fall of the Soviet Union and the Californian Left has not even noticed its arrival.

Pretty much all of my real world friends are people of the Left, as was I for so long. The other night we had some guests over and, for the fun of it, I put Achmed the Dead Terrorist on Youtube. I don't know if you guys are familiar with Achmad, but he's one of the funnier characters that ventriloquist / comedian Jeff Dunham does.

Achmed says that he was a very bad suicide bomber because he suffers from premature detonation!

At one point one of my buddies says, "This is Islamophobic."

And I looked at him and said something like, "Y'know, it's only 'Islamophobic' if you associate all Muslims with terrorists."

I doubt that I got through to him, but what he did not realize - and probably still doesn't realize - is that by condemning Achmed as Islamophobic he was suggesting that all Muslims are terrorists like Achmed and, thus, to make fun of terrorists is to make fun of Muslims, in general. Thus it was he who was being racist, not Jeff Dunham.

In any case, yes, the California Left considers any discussion of Political Islam to be "racist."

It doesn't matter how many Yazidi kids that ISIS buries alive or however much people get shot up or blown up throughout the European capitals by Islamists. To even mention such things is to already place oneself outside of polite company.

    6. Interesting. Very.
To be fair, though, in California - as in most uber-liberal parts of America- virtually anything is likely to be deemed "racist."
The list of apparently "racist" things goes on getting longer and longer by the day.
The lunacy on the campuses ( Mizzou, Yale) is evidence of progressivism eating itself.

What you are talking about is cultural relativism run wild. The adoption of cultural and moral relativism by the Western Left has produced people who genuinely seem incapable of blaming anyone for their actions - regardless of how appalling - unless they are western.
And anybody who commits atrocious acts or who holds atrocious views is, of course, absolved by the "fact" that they are only like that because of us. We ( the West) are responsible for absolutely everything. We are the root cause.
At the moment, in the UK, the decent people on the Left are locked into Twitter battles with people who need to blame the attacks in Paris on anything but the people who actually carried them out. It's "foreign policy" or "marginalization" or "America" or " Israel" or "climate change." It's like watching people twist themselves into pretzels.
The pivotal feature of the Western progressive left is to be self-loathing and anti-Western. Therefore, any movement which is also anti-Western has got to be understood and empathized with. "Kill us, we deserve it."
      (h/t Nick Cohen.)
I'm not even sure whether it qualifies as a "political position" anymore, or whether it has become a way of "psychologically" positioning yourself as being" morally superior" to others.
A lot of it - as people like David Thompson brilliantly point out - is a sort of bizarre psychodrama. "I am better than you because I can spy symptoms of oppression and discrimination in things that you cannot."
Hence the self-appointed witch-finder generals who police university campuses and the media.
I think these people are more and more out of step with ordinary people. I hope that is the case. For example, I think the general British public is unafraid to condemn ISIS even if the intelligentsia, commentariat, and present leader of the British Labour Party are.
"Polite company" is not what it used to be.

    7. Correction: For example, I think the general British public is unafraid to condemn ISIS even if the intelligentsia, commentariat, and present leader of the British Labour Party are unwilling to do so.

I've got lost in a double negative there. Embarrassing.

Apologies, it's been a tiring time.
      Hope that actually makes sense!

That's because they put the opinion before the consideration. It makes life simple.

  8. There will be more of this from the various morans:

"A co-founder of the Free Gaza movement, Mary Hughes-Thompson, raised the possibility that Israel was behind the deadly attacks that hit Paris on Friday night and killed 120 people.

"I haven't accused Israel of involvement. Still, Bibi [Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] is upset about the European settlement boycott. So who knows," Hughes-Thompson tweeted following the attacks on Saturday morning. ..."

The leftist conspiracy community is awash with such shite accusing everybody except Muslim jihadists. And, like jihadists, there re too many of the idiots to shut them down especially in this internet age.

  9. Even the Jew hating Commie, the Angry Arab is getting into it:

"All Arabs today have noticed something that can't be ignored: how ISIS and Al-Qa`idah terrorists travel the world to inflict their terrorism by yet spare Israel and its interests. The relationship between the Israeli Zionist occupation entity and Nusrah Front--the official branch of Al-Qa`idah in Syria--is not a secret anymore."

  10. Yes, all the usual suspects have come out with the usual conspiracy theories. It's all over social media, unfortunately. Some of it is really breathtaking.
What will be of interest is to see over the coming days and weeks how much conspiracy theories show up when people are interviewed and polled on these events.
Especially, perhaps, in France in les banlieues etc.
And, if possible, in the Arab/Muslim world..
After the Charlie Hebdo murders, the results of polling on who or what people believed responsible was, very alarmingly, very different from the reality. Be interesting to see what the results are following this.
Unfortunately, some people seem to feel the need to blame Jews for everything. As ever.

    1. There's a brilliance to this.

Can you imagine if Netanyahu made a public statement to the effect of, "The Israeli government calls upon both sides to exercise restraint during this unfortunate cycle of violence. The French government must demonstrate its commitment to human rights and to the rule of law by not subjecting Arab populations to efforts at collective punishment."
