Muslim Brotherhood Wins Egyptian Presidency

Mike L.

Yet the Washington Post sees a flowering of democracy:

Mohamed Morsi named new Egyptian president

CAIRO — Egyptians picked a conservative Islamist as their first freely elected president, officials announced Sunday, giving the Muslim Brotherhood a platform to challenge entrenched military authority and electrifying the Arab world’s most populous nation with one of the most concrete signs of democratic change since the revolution last year.

And Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, official "Spiritual Leader" of the Muslim Brotherhood says, "Allah Imposed Hitler upon the Jews to Punish Them.

How is it that neither the Jewish left, nor mainstream western journalism, is acknowledging the rising intensity of genocidal anti-Jewish hatred in the Middle East? It's bad in Europe, but in the Middle East it is genocidal.

This is simply remarkable.

The spread of radical Islam in the Middle East is the single most significant development in global politics since the fall of the Soviet Union and yet the Jewish left continues to bury its head.

Egyptian Cleric Safwat Higazi Launches Presidential Campaign for Muslim Brotherhood Candidate Mudhammad Mursi - Says: "The Capital of the Caliphate -- the capital of the United States of the Arabs -- will be Jerusalem"

Let us look at that one more time:

The Capital of the Caliphate -- the capital of the United States of the Arabs -- will be Jerusalem.

This is a statement from a Muslim Brotherhood leader made directly in Morsi's presence during a recent campaign rally in Cairo and, yet, the Jewish left remains mute.

I find it unconscionable and just plain stupid.

    "This is simply remarkable."

Mike, it's no more remarkable than this almost exact same scenario that happened approximately eighty years ago.

I keep stating the fact that what has been happening now, throughout the past approximately ten years, is, in essence, exactly what happened approximately eighty years ago. No one here seems to be comprehending this. No one here seems to be aware of what happened in the 1930's. And no one here seems to be aware of what is happening now.

In the 1930's the entire Western world, as a whole, supported the Nazi regime of Germany. This fact has been whitewashed from the teaching of history. The reason that, in the 1930's, the entire Western world, as a whole, supported the Nazi regime of Germany is because, in the 1920's and 1930's, most people in Western countries, including the United States of America, believed a perverse false narrative that: "The Jews are Evil and Powerful; and The Evil and Powerful Jews control the government of the United States of America; and The Evil Powerful Jews are mongering for war against the Noble Beatific Germans who are nobly redeveloping their own nation."

Mike, in the 1920's, "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" was widely disseminated in Western countries, and was widely believed in Western countries; and, in the 1920's and 1930's, the narrative propagated by "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" was WIDELY believed to be true by Western people, including by members of the governments of Western countries.

    1. Mike, please listen to me. The reason that what is happening now is happening is because Western governments, Western journalists, Western academics, etc., are propagating, and, now, most Westerners are believing, a perverse false narrative that: "The Jews are Evil and Powerful; and the Evil Powerful Jews stole the land of, and are persecuting, the Noble Beatific 'Palestinian' Arabs; and the Evil Powerful Jews control the government of the United States of America; and the government of the United States of America is supporting the Evil Powerful Jews; and the Noble Beatific 'Palestinian' Arabs are being justly avenged by the Noble Savage Muslim Warriors; and we must oppose the Evil Powerful Jews and everyone who is supporting the Evil Powerful Jews; and we must support the Noble Beatific 'Palestinian' Arabs and everyone who is defending the Noble Beatific 'Palestinian' Arabs."

BTW: Arab Israeli journalist Khaled Abu Toameh (who is now pro-Israel, but who, apparently, used to be pro-PLO, and who used to work at a PLO newspaper, and who is the son of a 'Palestinian' Arab mother and an Arab Israeli father) has said that when he reported about financial corruption of the PLO to Westerners (I think Western journalists and editors) when he worked at the PLO newspaper at which he used to work, those Westerners (I think Western journalists and editors) refused to report that which he reported to them, and accused him of "being payed by" "the Jews" and "the Zionists".

    2. In order to stop this madness that is (again) happening in the world, the belief in the false narrative that is causing this madness to be happening must be dispelled. To dispel the belief in the false narrative that is causing this madness to be happening, the facts of the currently approximately 90-year history and current reality of the situation must be communicated to the West.

First of all, Jewish people need to learn and comprehend the facts of the currently approximately 90-year history and current reality of the situation.

    3. BTW, to clarify (the following that I wrote):

"...Westerners (I think Western journalists and editors)..."

I think that, in the talk by Khaled Abu Toameh that I listed a link to, Khaled Abu Toameh may not specifically say that the Westerners who he, in the talk, says, refused to report facts about Fatah-PLO-PalestinianAuthority that he reported to them which were "negative" were Western journalists (but I'm not sure whether or not he specifically referred to them as being journalists; I don't know; I don't remember); However, I once heard a talk by Khaled Abu Toameh in which the people who he said refused to believe, and refused to report, any facts about Fatah-PLO-PalestinianAuthority that he reported to them which were "negative" he specifically said were Western journalists.

  2. I realize that elections are inconvenient for you when the out doesn't coincide with your particular world view. In 2006 the United States and Israeli governments encouraged the Palestinians to hold elections. Which they did: Those elections were monitored by nonpartisan groups and were considered mostly free and fair. Unfortunately for the supporters of those elections the wrong party won. When asked why they had voted for Hamas most stated they were tired of the corruption and mismanagement under the Palestinian Authority. As the results were finalized the international community decided to punish the Palestinian voter for choosing the wrong government.

In 1951 Mohammad Mosaddegh was elected Prime Minister of Iran one of the policies he instituted was the nationalization of foreign oil companies because felt that Iran and its citizens should benefit from that countries oil wealth. British Petroleum help the opposite view and with the help of the CIA over threw Mosaddegh and replaced him with the Shah setting in motion events which would lead to the Islamic revolution. Mohammad Mosaddegh was the last freely elected leader of Iran.

Iran isn't the only country where the United States has interfered in countries elections because they didn't like the out come. Indonesia, the Philippines, almost every country in Central and South America all because they people voted for the wrong party and its leader.

Perhaps if Egypt was more like Malaysia or Singapore good old fashion democratic dictatorships you would be more supportive. After all everyone knows that single party dictatorships are preferred to elections where the out come isn't predetermined and the opposition just might win.

    1. Really?

"As the results were finalized the international community decided to punish the Palestinian voter for choosing the wrong government. "

Perhaps if Hamas were to renounce its stated policy of exterminating Jews, and would stop firing rockets at Israeli civilians, there would be less opposition to, and condemnation of, them? I mean, since you went and brought them up and all. Believe it or not, and shocking as it may be to certain folks' worldview, Hamas are not innocent peacenik hippies smoking funny pipes who are simply disliked just because they root for the wrong soccer team, or whatever.

Heh. And, I'm trying to figure out how that guy thinks we could EVER be supportive of an outfit like the MB.

    3. I know, right, Doodad? It's simply dumbfounding how one can actually think they're strengthening their 'point' by bringing the genocidal terrorist organization Hamas, of all things, into this. Yet it often comes from an all-too-common part of the activist Left, my own political movement, which I just can't understand, and never will.

    4. You know what it is Jay? Some don't consider Hamas bad guys. It's that freaking simple. Or rather THEY are that freaking simple.

    5. And truly sad, too. I mean, if we can't even all start from a simple baseline like accepting the fact that organizations which are explicitly committed to genocide, and which engage in terrorism, are not just misunderstood, kind-hearted victims of 'vicious Western Imperialism,' where do we start from?

I mean, in that case, I don't even know how peace can ever come about? It's just so disappointing that people like our visitor above continue to insist on prolonging the suffering on both sides.

Shaking my head. That's all I can do.

  3. Israel picks a conservative leader, Bibi, and the entire left goes apeshit. Egypt picks one, and one that represents an evil freaking Brotherhood which wants to finish Adolph's mission, subjugate women, kill Gays, Copts and a slew of others and the left CONGRATULATES the assholes.

Run leftist values by me one more time; I think I missed something. Testing, testing....this still is the same universe I started out in isn't it? Is the sky still blue, guys?

    3. But yeah, here's a good question. Why is it that I can oppose radical right-wing Islamists, whose values should make anyone on the Left cringe, and that ends up making me a 'right-wing neocon racist warmonger,' or some such ridiculous crap; while opposing any given right-wing Israeli leader automatically grants one a Gold Star of True Progressivism(tm) amongst a disturbingly large number in certain quarters of the Left?

Why is that? I wonder? Oh wait, no I don't...

  4. You are so myopic it's unbelievable. First, I never once stated my support for any extremist group be it on the left or right. Second, whether you accept it or not people given the chance to vote have the right to support the candidate or party of their choice. A choice you may disagree with but it is their choice. Yet, over and over again governments (mostly western) have interfered in the voting process nullifying elections because these governments couldn't accept the outcome.

Whether I agree with Israeli government policy or not doesn't matter because I have no say in shaping said policy.

    1. Let's grant you your 'point' for a second (I haven't seen any Western governments overthrow Hamas yet - do you have any different information, preferably from the same reality most of the rest of us reside in?), even though it isn't true. Where have I, or anyone else here, "not accepted" the outcome of those elections?

Rather, I simply noted that you, presumably while thinking of yourself as a good liberal, presented a defense of a racist, genocidal, misogynistic, homophobic, radical right-wing terrorist organization (i.e. - all things which are not liberal) as part of your indictment against The Evil West(tm). The fallacy inherent in your position is simply laughable, and to expect me to not point this out is just ludicrous. Do not charge in here full of self-righteous indignation if you can not handle being easily dispatched, and handily put right back into your place. With occasional humor, where necessary.

Welcome to reality. Folks here at Israel Thrives, whether they be of the left or the right, actually believe in challenging the pablum put forth by those who aren't exactly the sharpest crayons in the box.

You sadly think that Jews are the only people subjected to genocide they are not. What about all those killed in Rwanda, Cambodia, China and Russia just to name a few. Were they not victims of genocide? What about the 7,000 men and boy's killed at Srebenica by the Bosnian Serb's were they just victims of war? The International Criminal in the Hague believe that it was genocide but in your mind they are just unlucky.

    4. And here, ladies and gentlemen, we have a perfect example of the kind of sputtering nincompoop who knows they have no argument, no 'point,' and nothing else behind their words, so as a last desperate resort they must result to nonsensically flailing about, and accusing others of 'intimidation' and 'racism.' Would be sickening, if it wasn't actually kinda funny, in a sad way.

    5. You know what fascinates me, Doodad, is how some can come on here, accuse everyone here of being racist, imperialist stooges, accuse us of harboring blinding hatred, and then follow all that up by accusing *us* of 'intimidation?' It's like if I were to walk into my neighbor's apartment when they went out to get the paper, help myself to some of their beers, lock the door so they can't get back in, and then accuse them of harassing me when they call the police.

      Simply fascinating.

    6. Jay,

it's a variant on the unspoken racist notion that violence against Jews is not really violence and therefore Jewish self-defense is a form of aggression.

The Jews of the Middle East have gotten their asses kicked for 2,000 years. Now that we actually have the means of self-defense, we are accused of aggression.

    8. In fact, I would also like to ask Nagaura, who feels so comfortable calling me a "racist" without presenting any evidence whatsoever, where he or she is from. What kind of society, what kind of city or neighborhood?

I choose to live not only in Philadelphia, the largest majority non-white city in the United States; but also in the North Philadelphia section of the city, which is one of the most ethnically diverse places anywhere in the world. Only 10% of the population of North Philadelphia is non-Hispanic white, mostly ethnic Irish as I am on my mother's side, while here in my section of Kensington there are also large populations of African Americans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Vietnamese and... Arab Muslims! In fact, my favorite falafel shop, right down the street, is run by a Palestinian family.

I'll put my liberal credentials against any of my so-called Left interlocutors, angry intolerant folks that they are, any day of the week. I live those values all my life, always have and always will. If anyone wants to claim differently, put up or shut up.

Who here is trying to intimidating anyone here?

And who throughout the entire world is trying to intimidate who -- on university campuses and classrooms in the U.S., on university campuses and classrooms in West European countries, on the streets in Europe, largely throughout the Internet, including on the largest Western "news" web sites, etc.?

Anti-Jewish racists -- indoctrinated adherents of huge powerful movements -- have always thought of themselves as being small powerless vulnerable victims of "The Jews"; and anti-Jewish racists have always held, and been indoctrinated with, the perverse wrong view that "The Jews" are a powerful group; and anti-Jewish racists have always held, and been indoctrinated with, the perverse wrong view that "The Jews" are a malevolent group.

The lies that vilify the Jewish people are so huge, and are so almost unanimously propagated -- by the Western media, and by Western academics, and by Western journalists, -- and, as part of that, Jewish Stockholm syndrome is so deep and pervasive -- and anti-Jewish racists are so self-unaware, that anti-Jewish racists don't know that what they believe about the Jewish people are lies. The lies are like an ocean, and anti-Jewish racists are swimming in it.

As a result of all of this, and as part of all of this, anti-Jewish racists always falsely accuse Jewish people of crimes that they -- anti-Jewish racists -- are committing against Jewish people, including the crime of falsely accusing.

BTW, as part of this: About the oil, and racist anti-Jewish, lobby, and about the "Jewish/Israel Lobby" libel:

The perversity and evil of anti-Jewish bigotry held about, and the amount of evil actions done to, and the extremity of the evil of evil actions done to, the Jewish people by people who have held anti-Jewish bigotry is unsurpassed and unparalled by any bigotry held about, and any evil actions done to, any other people by holders of any other form of bigotry in known human history. Your comment is a manifestation of that perverse evil unsurpassed unparalleled bigotry. More importantly, and as part of this, there is currently a huge Islamic, and colluding more sophisticated Western, intendedly genocidal anti-Jewish movement in the world.
