I am under notification by the European Union

Michael Lumish

I just discovered this on the internal Israel Thrives page where I edit articles.
European Union laws require you to give European Union visitors information about cookies used and data collected on your blog. In many cases, these laws also require you to obtain consent.

As a courtesy, we have added a notice on your blog to explain Google's use of certain Blogger and Google cookies, including use of Google Analytics and AdSense cookies, and other data collected by Google.

You are responsible for confirming this notice actually works for your blog, and that it displays. If you employ other cookies, for example by adding third party features, this notice may not work for you. If you include functionality from other providers there may be extra information collected from your users.

Learn more about this notice and your responsibilities.
What can I say?

The last I checked I was still an American citizen and not under European Union rule.

  1. What can I tell you? I am not going to submit to EU rules on anything. I am a citizen of the United States. The EU holds no compulsion over me, If they want to block Israel Thrives from EU states then, jeez, I will sleep even better at night.

  2. I don't even know what the f___ they are talking about.

I can't think of a European website I have visited asking for my consent nor giving me information about cookies, or even offering me cookies and milk.
    Flip these wankers the bird.

  3. It's a European thing.

Sooner or later they.lose the fight to hold down right arms and begin marching up and down and looking for some place to invade so they can get at the Jews if only in their dreams.

Of course they think you have cookies and crap crawling all over them like a giant octopus. That's the least of.their delusions.

    1. I still can't get over it. No other agency of any sort has ever intruded onto my internal pages to push me around. The US government never did. The UN never did. Israel never did.

Nobody ever thought to come marching directly into the middle of this space and start dictating behavior to me aside from the European Union.

      Jesus Christ.

I did not like them before, but now I detest them.

    2. It will be years before the actual effect will be known. The law has some good things for privacy and who owns data. However, only a few platforms have the capacity to collect the data to comply with law, which is more intrusive than before. That means more concentration. We already see the abuse of FB, Google and the like.

US entities may end up foregoing the EU requirements, which will cause less overall interaction. It's a pain in the butt, but largely applies to the collection and use of user data without people knowing anything. Then again, the progressive policies of the so-smart EU leaders often turn out poorly and repressive.

Like most things, it's out of our hands. The less things shared, the better. More concerned about restricting of content with hate speech laws. So many people are addicted to social media and happily turn over data and do not realize the extent to which they assist in their own manipulation.

  4. Ask someone who knows about privacy rules and international web traffic. Know any lawyers in Europe?
