  1. Would you believe I've never read anything of Vonnegut's?

I'm catching up on my Ed Abbey these days. Aside from 'The Brave Cowboy,' which is fantastic, I've never read any of his fiction. I think I've read all his other writings, though, including his collection of correspondence that came out a few years back.

    1. Funny, but out of nowhere I was thinking of that very book only yesterday.

    1. That's right!

      LOL.

      I forgot about that.

Anyway, I love Vonnegut. In fact, I credit Vonnegut with getting me through high school.

Slaughter House 5 will go down as a great American classic, but his short stories are fun, too.

I recommend Welcome to the Monkey House.

And, yeah, Mother Night is a terrific novel, but it's also one of his more grim efforts.

In fact, the genius behind Vonnegut is that he manages to be terribly sad and terrifically funny at the same time.
