This is a partial list of taboo topics within progressive-left venues around the Arab-Israel conflict. You cannot discuss this material because it undermines the "Palestinian narrative" of perpetual victimhood. This narrative is a club used by the Arab and Muslim enemies of Israel, along with their western progressive allies, to delegitimize that country in preparation for its eventual dissolution.
1) The centuries of Jewish, Christian, and Zoroastrian dhimmitude under the boot of Islamic imperialism.
2) The recent construction of Palestinian identity, its connection to Soviet Cold War politics, and how this is an Arab people with a Roman name that refers to Greeks.
3) Arab and Palestinian Koranically-based racism as the fundamental source of the conflict.
4) The ways in which contemporary progressive anti-Zionism serves as a cloak for gross anti-Semitism.
5) The Palestinian theft and appropriation of Jewish history.
6) "Pallywood."
7) The historical connections between the Nazis, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Palestinian national movement.
8) The perpetual refusal of the Palestinian-Arabs to accept a state for themselves in peace next to the Jewish one.
9) The progressive portrayal of terrorists as those fighting a righteous war of "resistance."
10) The Arab-Palestinian indoctrination of children with Jew-Hatred.
11) Human rights violations against women, children, and Gay people in the Muslim Middle East.
12) The fact that violent Jihadis call themselves "Jihadis" and claim to love death above life.
These are simply items that it is not considered couth to discuss within polite society on the "progressive-left" although it holds slightly less true -- but only slightly -- among "Progressive Zionists."
CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour recalled Kristallnacht by noting that President Donald Trump’s presidency has similarly waged a “modern day assault” attacking “those same values” the Nazi regime did.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2020/11/13/cnn-faces-backlash-barrage-for-denigrating-holocaust-amanpour-must-be-fired/
It was reported at Breitbart. She has received much backlash. But has this been reported in the NY Times or WaPo? Maybe by the trusty Dana Milbank? Or will this simply be another case where facts are swept under the rug? Of course, we must listen because they know more about everything that matters.
Amanpour has been anti-Israel for many years. I used to like her because I thought that she was sophisticated. Now I dislike her because I know that she is anti-Israel and, thus, anti-Jewish.
DeleteOf course, she is thoroughly dis-likeable, and deserves the criticism for her antisemitism. And though the NY Times and WaPo are often used by some as authorities to bludgeon with the progressive narrative, this story was ignored by each. Imagine that. It will not stop the lectures or ignorance of those who constantly cite these "news" organizations.
DeleteAmanpour was in the UK just after the Brexit vote interviewing pro-Brexit voters like a badgering prosecutor trying to get them all to admit to racism. But her polish came off before that with her report on the I/P conflict where she, over and over again, referred to Israeli settlers as, "God's Jewish Warriors." According to CAMERA's count I think it was 18 times, as compared to just a few references to any Muslim warriors, etc.
DeleteShe, like most of the more trendy antisemites, makes a big deal of Kristallnacht, Nazis, and dead Jews. The living Jews who assert our rights are however a bit of a nuisance. She is aghast at Nazis yet supports an authoritarian produced record of current events filled with censorship and suppression of facts designed to subdue the population. Bitch.
The middle class became a minority for the first time under Obama's watch. Yet from Christiane Amanpour's CNN and others all we heard was 8 years of obnoxious celebration. They'd never report that bad news.
They are already all demanding Trump to concede, which is quite a different reaction than they had to Al Gore taking back his concession to fight 37 days for good old Chad, isn't it?
This country is in huge trouble.
Many still believe this is a free country.
The people who just rigged our election consider it a country where you're free to believe whatever they tell you.
Not surprised by her latest in the least. She's one of many.
DeleteThe larger matter is that this and other information is hidden from people who then claim others are not informed, sometimes in obnoxious fashion.
Yes, she certainly is one of many. The cheapening of the Holocaust has been a part of the American Left's arsenal for some years now. They are never shy about using the Shoah to highlight their pet (divisive) wedge issues, most inappropriately, and then comparing Israel to Nazis.
DeleteThat's right, Jeff. The Republicans who triad and failed to rig the election but lost ANYWAY, act as you describe.
DeleteBTW, the s t o r m f r o n t site has a banner link urging its scumbags to attend "Stop the Steal!" demos.
Chris Krebs, director of CISA - the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency - assures us in a video that the election is secure.
https://www.cisa.gov/rumorcontrol?utm_source=hp_slideshow&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=dhsgov
So stop the nonsense.
Randalll, I guess both sides have their scumbags. It's just that yours have so much more power to get their way. But I do get the feeling that I was a registered Democrat before you were so much as a gleam in your father's eye.
DeleteDo you have proof that Republicans tried to rig the election? What is it?
"So stop the nonsense."
Which nonsense is that, Randall?
Please take your time. Be specific and don't shy away from detail.
"This week,, 82 years ago, Kristallnacht happened. It was the Nazi's warning shot across the bow of our human civilization that led to genocide against a whole identity,..." - Christiane Amanpour
DeleteNo need to go further than that right now. I'm not going to go into the sleazing of Trump again by these purveyors of lies posing as the Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson of verifiable truths. No. Because there is proof enough of the MSM's mischievous behavior over the past 4 years and far longer. In universalizing the holocaust, and robbing it of its meaning, there now is apparently no longer a need to even refer to the identity of the group which was the victim of this genocide. It wasn't merely an identity whom the Nazis tossed into mass graves and whose bodies were burnt in ovens and whose ashes flooded the air like just as so much soot. It was the Jews, and the Jews are a particular people with a particular story. This is all one need know about Amanpour's bonafides as a "progressive." This is why "progressives so easily compare just about anything they like with "what happened to the Jews." It is part and parcel of that racist cudgel Lumish has written about.
Ms. Amanpour, the Nazis committed a genocide against the Jews, as Woody Allen said, while the other Europeans held their coats for them. Or maybe we can change that to "while other 'identities' held their coats.
I am not going to put up with this cheapening and euphemizing of a singular tragic event of the past 100 years so Christiane Amanpour and other so-called progressives can lie to themselves as they lie to me.
The hysteria she and others have ginned up around the Trump presidency will not go over well in the long march of history, no matter how much she and they try to write this square peg in a round hole version. Historians eventually will want specifics, and they have none, just a bunch of broad assertions buoyed by their once respected reputations now shattering into tatters in front of the masses who have now seen "that man behind the curtain."
And then, she says that this is what Donald Trump was trying to do, which would be laughable if these idiots weren't serious, and if the same type of political campaign hadn't been in use against Israel for at least 10 or 15 years in the UK, all over Europe, at a college campus near you, and now being introduced into the halls of power through the Democratic Party. It is off the wall nuts, and again, a gross cheapening of the destruction of Europe and European Jewry.
Fuck her.
"The nonsense" being the nonsense that the Dems rigged the election.
DeleteGoogle "post office sabotage" for details on just some of the Trump admin's attempts at rigging.
And yes, both sides have their scumbags:
"Tax filings reveal Biden cancer charity spent millions on salaries, zero on research" - New York Post
https://nypost.com/2020/11/14/biden-cancer-initiative-spent-millions-on-payroll-zero-on-research-report/
Joe Biden is a warmonger, a racist, and an oligarchy stooge. But he's an institutionalist: he wants to preserve the system instead of utterly destroying it.
I make a distinction between voter fraud and rigging. Rigging is before hand. Rigging is what the Dems, media and big tech were up to. Fraud happens at the polls.
DeleteRandall, show a tad of modesty. It actually helps your case. The truth is that you have no idea the degree to which there was voter fraud in this election. Zero. I don't know either. But there are unquestionably strange inconsistencies. Furthermore, 4 years of toxic hatred toward Trump demonstrate an unusually strong motive for cheating. Also, this push for mail-in voting was guaranteed to fuck things up. I called it on November 2, but I was hardly alone.
DeleteNow, you might say, "Fuck you, Lumish. The mail-in balloting worked perfectly." That is unlikely, but not the point, either. The point is that mail-in balloting -- in this terrible and unstable year -- could practically have been designed to fuck things up because it was inevitable that whichever side was losing would scream voter fraud and demand an investigation.
This is precisely what is happening.
Well distilled, Mike. Thank you.
DeleteRandall,
DeleteWhere was Chris Krebs in 2016? Of course, at that time we had the soothing words of Barack Obama who said that it would be impossible for anyone to interfere with an American election. Then, of course, we know what happened. Russia! had stolen the election for Donald Trump, and we were made to endure that bull shit daily for years.
The Palestinian theft and appropriation of Jewish history.
ReplyDeleteNo sense of self awareness.
ReplyDeleteAmanpour has been anti-Israel for many years. I used to like her because I thought that she was sophisticated. Now I dislike her because I know that she is anti-Israel and, thus, anti-Jewish.
You are a liar, you know dam well anti Zionist Jews exist.
You are a troll with spelling problems. You are also making an argument most often cited by antisemites. Oops!
DeleteJeff, my guess is that he followed me over from FB. Yes, Blue, we all know that there are anti-Zionist and antisemitic Jews. Did you just recently discover this? And would you care to explain to me how denying the indigenous people of Judea sovereignty over their own historical homeland is not racist? Hmmm...?
DeleteIt was at Adam Levick's joint, at that time known as CIF Watch, and other places, where I learned of British media's illusion that Israel was some sort of 50-50 controversy amongst Jews rather than the 90% + support its existence gets from Jews.
DeleteThe BBC and most of the rest of the TV media would present issues in this way: Bring on as guests either pro and anti Israel Jews and give deference to the anti position, or just skip bringing on a pro Israel Jewish guest entirely and feed the anti Israel Jew softballs and question nothing. A tiny single digit percentage of British anti-Zionist Jews got more than 50% of the air time. BBC presenters commonly and relentlessly rake Israeli spokespeople over the coals. And yet the Guardian Left still accuse the BBC of being hopelessly pro-Israel.
The left wing aggression is becoming mainstream. It will come for Jews before all is said and done.
ReplyDeleteWhy so adamant that a legal process not proceed? Especially if they believe the result is so clear. Is that an aroma of fear?
And why is it ALWAYS their reality that must be accepted? As if they were right about much of anything? As if their reality includes liberal values embodies in the Bill of Rights?
It's not like they fell in line after the 2016 election. They did not become the opposition, but the resistance. How many boycotted the inauguration? What really happened in the Oval Office on January 5, 2017?
They are still carrying the fight, even after they say they won. Which is illegal conduct under rules of war. But this time against conservatives. Trump was right. It is not as much about him as those that reject the progressive globalist agenda, as it morphs toward a totalitarian globe.
Amanpour compares Trump to Hitler, but she defended the good name of Ahmadinejad in 2011.
ReplyDeleteAmanpour challenged Rep. Michele Bachmann's claims about Iran's goals on ABC's This Week. Rather than ask Bachmann for specifics, Amanpour instead lectured her about her alleged error:
BACHMANN: Iran has also stated they would be willing to use a nuclear weapon against the United States of America. I think if there's anything that we have learned over the course of history, it is that when a madman speaks, we should listen. And I think in the case of Iran, that is certainly true.
AMANPOUR: Congresswoman, of course the United States is concerned about the nuclear program. Iran denies that it has one, so it hasn't threatened to use them.
Think Progress reported how Bachmann had gotten caught making a claim "so discordant with the facts that ABC host Christiane Amanpour told the candidate that the claim wasn't possible[.]" The extent of their proof was simply that Amanpour had said it.
It's the same kind of leftist groupthink that defines Trump as Hitler-like and Biden as President-Elect before certification.
Heya Bo, welcome to Israel Thrives.
