Racist violence against Jews in the Jewish homeland never takes a break, not even during holidays.
Four Arab 'men' have been arrested following the stoning of a two-year old Jewish girl in Jerusalem on Thursday.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat called on authorities to crack down on a recent wave of stone throwing attacks in the city. “It’s about time we start treating a stone as a weapon,” he told Israel’s Channel 10 TV.I'd say it's long past time for that. Let's hope these latest in the line of cowardly, wannabe murderers who attack babies are removed from civil society for quite a while. Let's hope something serious is done by the authorities to put an immediate end to the everyday racist violence carried out against Jews in the Jewish homeland.
Here's to a very speedy recovery for Avigail Ben Zion, and may the Chanukah lights provide warmth and strength to her family as they now deal with this tragedy during what should be joyous times for all of us.
Thanks for this, Jay.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that Israel should treat stone throwing as an act of attempted murder and respond accordingly.
Yup.
DeleteAlthough I'm sure that eventually a David Harris-Gershon type (or types) will lather up rage against the arrest of these poor, peace-loving, teenaged bunny rabbits, and whip up the antisemites into yet another good ole' fashioned, Jew-bashin' hoedown, amongst the usual suspects and in the usual venues.
Hmm, maybe here they come already...
DeleteAnd it appears they've silently edited out all references to the 20-something year old failed murderer as a 'youth.'
DeleteIn the original article, the man who was killed in self defense by the Israeli he was trying to kill was called a 'youth' about five or six times.
Results! Go Jay...
So gaol them for life and then let them go in the next round of prisoner releases?
DeleteIs that what you're saying Mike?
The left/liberals allow for "proportionate response". It's just I've never seen them define "proportionate". The only guide to their thinking is that everything Israel does is not a "proportionate response".
DeleteThe problem is that Israel is far too humane and civilised for a proportionate response. A proportionate response to ongoing indiscriminate lethal attacks on civilians would be hostage taking.
I think that Ron Torossian might have a good idea.
DeleteThe Broken Windows Theory
"Maybe it’s time Israel adopted the broken windows theory which worked so well for New York City. In the 1990’s, Mayor Rudy Giuliani turned around NYC by aggressively pursuing a “zero tolerance" attitude towards crime. Together with the police commissioner, he strictly enforced the law against subway fare evasion, public drinking, public urination, graffiti artists and the much-feared "squeegee men.”
The attitude was that small crimes that are treated lightly can make way for larger crimes – and indeed rates of both petty and serious crime fell suddenly and significantly, and continued to drop for the following ten years. The basic attitude was that by not allowing any broken windows – i.e. having zero tolerance, government can stop further vandalism and escalation into more serious crimes."
Freaking barbarians.
ReplyDeleteWe should probably ignore this, though, Doodad, and focus on the real crimes happening in that part of the world. Like for instance, have you heard that Jews might be thinking about building apartments for themselves in defiance of a certain racist dictator's demands?! They might even have such thoughts while eating falafel... can you imagine the gall!
Delete(slapping self...)
Oh, hey sorry. I'm okay now. Phew!
Wait till someone kills Judi Rudoren with a paving stone then it will actually be called a crime by the NYT but the odds are they'd blame the Jews anyhow.
