So Long and Thanks For All The Fish and Chips

Doodad

So there is a deal with Iran. Yee-haw.  Israel is not too impressed but is fairly busy right now pulling all the knives out of its back. So who knows how this will all proceed. One thing I didn't expect to see was a WARNING from the increasingly lousy Brits. Yes, a WARNING that Israel should not do anything that would undermine the deal of the century.
Britain to Israel: Don't undermine Iran nuclear deal

UK's Hague warns Israel of acting out, says 'would discourage anybody from taking any steps to undermine agreement'. Hezbollah: 'Deal is major victory for Iran, defeat for enemies'
As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly announces Israel is not bound to nuclear deal signed between world powers and Iran in Geneva, the West now cautions Netanyahu of carrying out an operation that would challenge the deal he dubbed "a historic mistake". Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Monday that Israel should avoid taking any action that would undermine the interim nuclear agreement reached between Iran and world powers. Urging world leaders to give the interim deal a chance, Hague said it was important to try to understand those who opposed the agreement. But he urged Israel and others to confine their criticism to rhetoric.

"We would discourage anybody in the world, including Israel, from taking any steps that would undermine this agreement and we will make that very clear to all concerned," Hague told parliament.
Hague, who gave an update on the nuclear talks in Geneva, added he had not seen any signs that any country opposed to the agreement would try to disrupt it "in any practical way", but said Britain would be "on its guard".
On its guard for Iran?  Screw Britain... but thanks for all the fish and chips.

  1. I have to say, Doodad, that I am a tad wary of weighing-in too heavily on this topic.

How many of us really know the details of the agreement and therefore its implications?

Nonetheless, it certainly looks as if that in return for a lift of sanctions Iran gets to keep enriching uranium.

And what that means, from everything that I am reading, it puts Iran within sprinting distance from the bomb.

In other words, in exchange for a vast enrichment of Iran through international investments Iran gets to build up its nuclear capability and now the Sunnis are going to run like hell toward their own nuclear weaponry.

    What?

You find something wrong with this?

    Best. President. Ever.

  2. One would hope that all those powerful smart nations are doing the right thing. Course the Iranians aren't threatening to obliterate them like germs. Then there is the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to be made. I don't know what to make of it all but I can never resist a chance to make a Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference.

    Best. President. Evah!!!!!! Yee-Haw!

    1. It was always extremely unlikely that Israel would attack Iran. It was always a zero chance anyone else would. It is less likely now for Israel in fact one could make the case that the target of these talks was Israel not Iran in order to bolster Obama's pressure on the Jews to get them cave about whatever he needs them to cave on this month. So the real puzzle is whether Hague also means any covert things like assassinations too. I suppose as months go by there will be more and more European technicians and scientists helping Iran so it's possible he's simply warning the Jews that killing HIS Nazis will NOT be tolerated.

  3. I can't recall Hague ever expressing a single thought about Israel that wasn't in the form of a threat. I don't think he's ever done it. But given the hundred year history of Britain's treatment of Israel, and pre-Israel who among us is shocked? Moreover it does point to a peculiar problem with this kind of Parliamentary system - that senior political leaders in a role that actually shapes and executes policy are still beholden to their own local constituency. What's Hague's? Some huge terrorist mosque?

But since Britain's Jews are nearly shameful in their lack of any resistance or outspokenness about the most outrageous things the UK government says and does, it's hard to lay all the blame at Hague's feet. He's Cameron's backstabber while Cameron flies around the world as Britain's Salesman-In-Chief, closing big weapons deals to Arab states and soon - Iran.

    1. The UK has always been pro-Arab. Its period of philo-semitism that coincided with the rise of Zionism was a brief summer.

They've never forgiven the Jews for showing they would not be thwarted in the aim of establishing a Jewish State. You can consider that payback from the Foreign Office.

But what are they are going to do? Bomb Israel? Its a third rate country that cannot even stand up to Iran!

After all, the Brits were slapped down by their own Parliament when they wanted to join Obama in Syria.

NICOSIA — Lebanon has reported a secret dialogue between the Iranian-sponsored Hizbullah and the United States.

Lebanese parliamentary sources said U.S. diplomats have begun contact with Hizbullah politicians in Beirut. They said the dialogue concerned stability in Lebanon as well as the next government.

“The United States is sending and receiving messages to Hizbullah through sympathetic third parties,” a source said. “The dialogue has intensified over the last few weeks.”

The dialogue was reported by members of the pro-Western March 14 coalition, driven out of power in 2011. The members, who did not want to be identified, said the U.S. dialogue with Hizbullah was part of the rapproachment by President Barack Obama with Iran."

What next? Obama, Kerry, Hamas and Hague going out for fish and chips and a beer?

  5. Everyone knows about the Hezbollah talks. It's been an open secret for a while. The question anyone has is why bother to pretend they're secret? Hezbollah is backstopping Assad while they run around mass murdering Christians in Syria and Lebanon. But boo hoo a 'palestinian' car bombed their HQ a few days ago so Obama doesn't know who to prostrate himself before first? Oh what the heck - blame it on the Jews and their Jewy homes in 'occupied' palistan.

Obama isn't stupid - he prefers to deal with psychopaths, cutthroats and pirates. Everyone else is an ex-ally.
