  1. On my way home tonight, passing through the wilds of Saturday Night Fishtown (specifically, the corner of Frankford and Girard, picking up a bite to eat from a food truck while waiting for the #5 bus home), a young woman passed me by. Clearly celebrating something (probably just Saturday night), she intoxicatedly observed my ballcap and apprised me of, roughly, the following - "Whooooo, Phillll...(stumble on curb, uproarious laughter, hiccup) eeeeeees!!!!"

She then continued off into the night, as I caught sight of my bus rounding under the El toward me.

Perhaps it was actually Purim she was out celebrating? I guess we'll never know...

(And I suppose I had to connect this anecdote to your post somehow)

    ;-P

    1. "What is a bad thing is that the rest of the world simply doesn't care."

I've long ceased expecting the world to care. If there's anything the Holocaust should have taught us Jews, it's not to entrust our security to any other nation.

Far more alarming are the calls to obstruct the Jewish State from defending itself alone, in the name of "preserving the global balance" (keeping oil prices low, actually, but they won't say that), like that of a former Qarter-era politician's call for the U.S. to shoot down Israeli planes on the way to Iran. That would be as blatant an act of aggression against the Jewish people as Britain's decision during WWII to close to Jewish refugees the gates of the one land in the world that belongs to them: Accessory to murder.

  2. I can tell you for certain that there is at least one new Haman in Persia that I would like to see hung at least 50 metres high.

    Is that a bad thing?

    1. Ahmadinejad has called for genocide so, no, it's not a bad thing.

What is a bad thing is that the rest of the world simply doesn't care.

    2. Actually that was a mistranslation from the original Farsi Mike. He really said he wanted to take out all Israelis for pie and ice-cream.

  3. "Bob Avrech explains why Purim is not a progressive holiday.

Thus, the story of Purim ends in a bloodbath. The Jews do not sit down and enlighten their enemies about how we must all live together in peace, they do not form reconciliation committees, they do not forgive their genocidal enemies.

The Jews who follow Mordechai and Esther take up their swords and fight. Because only a good man with a sword can defeat a bad man with a sword.

And even as the victorious Jews slog through the blood of their enemies, even as they celebrate their victory, and even as they give food baskets to the poor, they know that this is not the end of Jewish history, it’s just another chapter that is fated to repeat itself over and over again — until the coming of the Messiah."

Originally, Han Shot First in the first Star Wars episode produced (back in 1977). Then Lucas tampered with it to have Greedo shoot first, then further edited it to have them both shoot at the first time.

We're all supposed to believe Greedo missed Han across the same table, but people who are free of this pathetic moralizing know that, if Han hadn't shot first, Luke and Obi-Wan would have had to find a new captain of a new ship for their voyage to Alderaan. George Lucas's original version was Jewish morality; his edits, an attempt to make the scene more Christian. But Star Wars isn't the problem here; the problem here is that, to quote Eric Hoffer, "Everyone expects the Jews to be the only real Christians in this world."

P.S. Sorry for posting my first post on this thread in the wrong place.

    Rock on dudes.

“We’ve been slammed and smacked and twittered a lot by the anti-Israeli side,” said Mick Jagger, the band’s leader and most recognizable member since 1963. “All I can say is: anything worth doing is worth overdoing. So we decided to add a concert on Tuesday.”

  5. Take that, Roger Waters. And Stevie Wonder. And Coldplay. And numerous other entertainers now on my shit list because they contracted IDS. .

I took Stevie off my YouTube playlists. Now that hurts.
