Progressive-Left Racism on Display

Mike L.

So, let me get this straight. If I were to publish a cartoon of Muhammed, such as the one above, it becomes my fault if some Muslims in Egypt or Libya go completely nuts and start killing people?

Throughout the progressive-left blogosphere they are blaming filmmaker Sam Bacile, and for some incomprehensible reason "conservatives," for the irrational violence resulting in the murder of a US ambassador and three other diplomats in Benghazi, Libya.

JayinPhiladelphia linked to the following Daily Kos comment as an example:

Right-wing agitation designed to inflame violence. (74+ / 0-)

... so it can be blamed on Obama.

Rightwingers wagging the dog.

by MichiJayJay on Tue Sep 11, 2012 at 04:48:04 PM PDT

74 uprates.

I have been maintaining for some time now that the foremost racist political movement in the west today is unquestionably the progressive-left. But like all hard-core racists they do not accept their form of racism as racism.

It is, in fact, as Jay pointed out, "humanitarian racism." As Gerstenfeld writes:

The humanitarian racist’s conclusion differs, however, from that of the ugly racist. He or she considers that as the non-white or weak cannot be held responsible for their acts, one should look away as often as possible even if they commit major crimes.

The progressive-left as a group tends to view people of color, and particularly Arab-Muslims, as so essentially inferior that they must never be considered responsible for their own behavior. Thus in this latest episode of shear irrational violence we have people like the commenter above claiming that it's the fault of "conservatives" although it is entirely unclear what the conservative political movement in the United States had to do with the attack.

The truth of the matter, of course, is that the people responsible for the murders are the people who committed the murders. To try to shift the blame to Mr. Bacile, or to "conservatives," is an excellent example of how progressive-left racism functions. It's actually a very imperial stance that completely disrespects the subaltern "other" and very much smacks of "white man's burden," Lloyd.

White Man's Burden:

Progressive-left racism is, in part, the result of a semi-digested post-colonial theory that divides the world into white western aggressors versus indigenous people of color. Because white westerners are always held to be the victimizers, people of color are always held to be the innocent victims of the white European west. Thus no matter what non-white people do they can never be held responsible for their own behavior and suitable scapegoats are quickly found.

Often, of course, the scapegoats are Jews or in the case of Israel, the Jewish collective. For this reason, as we see throughout progressive-left venues, no matter what the Palestinians do, no matter what heinous crimes a Palestinian may commit, it's always and forever Israel's fault.

In the mean time, Sam Bacile must now go into hiding in order to prevent his own murder. Does anyone remember filmmaker Theo van Gogh?

He, too, was slaughtered and for the same kind of reason.

By the way, Obama says that he "unequivocally" opposes the murder of the US ambassador and the other diplomats. Well, that's good to know.

Here is a Jerusalem Post comment that serves as a good example:

Bacile released a hate movie. he is directly responsible for the death of America's ambassador. He must be tried.

Levy blames the murder of the ambassador not on those who perpetrated the crime, but on a filmmaker half a world away.

On Daily Kos we get this:

Gee what a surprise nutjob Israeli and nutjob (4+ / 0-)

evangelicals causing problems.

Liberalism is trust of the people tempered by prudence. Conservatism is distrust of the people tempered by fear. ~William E. Gladstone, 1866

So Americans are murdered by Libyans and who is at fault?

An Israeli and an American evangelical. Typical.

Check out the following exchange between a Muslim commenter and me on the following video that I uploaded on YouTube. (Racist anti-Jewish and pro-non-Jewish-Middle-Eastern Leftists, take heed. And, also, decent people, take heed. (The following is how to respond to indoctrinated Islamic supremacists. With actual respect -- with firmness and with truth.))

MB Leader: "Allah Imposed Hitler upon the Jews to Punish Them" "Next Time...[by] the Believers"

---- Beginning of comments by Muslim commenter and comments by me ----

Muslim commenter: "oh my god how you twist things!!"

    Me: "Who is twisting what?"

Muslim commenter: "muslim knows and beleive that every unjust will be punished, not only jews, not only christians, everybody, even muslims.

"I meant by "twist things" that we (muslims) talk a lot about jews and christians but we talk more about us, and that is have more exhortations to be better people.

"we learn from others mistakes and from our mistakes.

"the twisting part is that you people, leave all these speaches and focus only on the jew part, and spoting more light on it."

    Me: "Give me a break.

"And about what you referred to as "unjust" by "even Muslims" and as "exhortations to be better people": I know all about the death penalty for apostatizing from Islam, and I know all about the death penalty for what Islamic courts may deem to be adultery, and I know about the prescribed punishment of beating for "insubordinate" wives, etc. -- and I know all about the mandate for lying -- Taqiyya -- to "protect" Islam."

Muslim commenter: "the second part of the vid, it's a point of agreement among all muslims and other non-muslims and I'll not discuss it."

Me: "Are you referring to this leader of the Muslim Brotherhood's expressing belief that Jewish people are hated by the deity of the religious and political ideology and system of government Islam, "Allah", and are you referring to this leader of the Muslim Brotherhood expressing that he desires to murder Jewish people, and are you saying that this belief and this desire is shared by Muslims and non-Muslims?"

Muslim commenter: "ok now we can go on for endless comments, so i will do this last one briefed.

"Taqiyya is haram (prohibited) thats shiaa muslims who practise it not all muslims. In fact Shiaa nad others like Khawarig (خوارج in arabic) are few among those that i meant by "even muslims". Muslims are not angels, we are human beings also and we do mistakes."

Me: "Ah, the responding by you with Taqiyya to the shedding of light on your previous dishonesty and hypocrisy. BTW, I understand that Taqiyya may have been a Shia development, but that Taqiyya and Kitman etc. -- deceit to "protect" Islam -- is not prohibited by Sunni Islam and is practiced also by Sunni Muslims."

Me: "Yes, I know that people who are adherents of Islam -- Muslims -- are human beings and make mistakes. And I forgive people who are Muslims. However, I disapprove of, and oppose, racist supremacist imperialist totalitarian ideologies and systems of government. Therefore I disapprove of, and oppose, the racist supremacist imperialist totalitarian religious and political ideology and system of government Islam."

    1. (from continued)

Muslim commenter: "beating wives is not allowed except in few cases. Marriage should be built on mutual respect. the only case that a wive can be beaten is the last move the husband can do before divorce. that's when the wife is insubordinate.the other way around, the wife can ask for forced divorce (خلع) or normal divorce.

"and yes,the death penalty. If someone who knew Islam and then left it, well yeah.

"should i go to your bible and pick some of your glory killing parts?

"ok my comment is finished, have a nice day"

Me: "Ah. "Mutual respect". So, according to Islam, when is the beating of husbands allowed?

""and yes,the death penalty. If someone who knew Islam and then left it, well yeah"

      "You've expressed that accurately."

"And, when was the last time, and how many times recently, has any Christian or any adherent of the ancestral religion of the Jewish people, Judaism, killed a woman for her being accused of having committed adultery? And what non-Muslim state has as a law, the punishment of adultery by death?"

---- End of comments by Muslim commenter and comments by me ----

  2. There is a kernel of truth in the sentiments of extremists and activists that they use to fan the flames for advantage, and this is true for both sides in a controversy.

Here, the movie maker seems to have made a film that bluntly repudiates Islam and Mohammed. Even if provoked, it is no excuse for violence. That the filmmaker must hide for his life puts the matter into perspective concerning the issues and rights involved.

I disagree to an extent "that the foremost racist political movement in the west today is unquestionably the progressive-left." I have seen plenty of disgusting behavior from partisans of both sides. To hear some of the talk about liberals and Obama would make one shudder.

Beyond the need to demonize opponents, I do agree, however, that the larger issue of a post-colonial mind set held by way too many on the left, that springs humanitarian racism, is something that eats away at our system and increases the danger from forces seeking our destruction. Much of this is due to a lack of information, attributable to the movement to take any discussion outside the boundaries of discourse, perpetrated by those that wish to shield themselves from scrutiny. Indeed, they seek to stifle the rights and security of others as they violate the same with impunity.

    1. I don't know, School.

Do you think that I am overstating my case?

Perhaps, but I have to say that humanitarian racism is, today, the foremost type of racism present in the west. The old crude type is pretty well out of fashion, but this newer, more nuanced form of racism is definitely in fashion and mainly found on the progressive-left.

    2. Mike, what even many people who are aware of this "humanitarian racism" -- which is manifested mainly as, and, I think, originally solely as, sympathetic condescending racism toward Arab people (and toward anyone who people who have held that racism think of as being Arab or as being Muslim and as being, therefore, somehow in social communion with Arab people) -- are not aware of, and don't understand, is that this so-called "humanitarian racism" is a manifestation of antipathetic racism toward Jewish people.

This so-called "humanitarian racism" is the wrong belief that: "The Jews are evil and powerful. And the Jews stole the land of, and are persecuting, the Beatific Noble "Palestinian" Arabs. And the Jews are controlling the government of the U.S.A. And the government of the U.S.A. is supporting the Evil Jews. And the Noble Savage Muslim Warriors are justly avenging the Beatific Noble "Palestinian" Arabs."

This so-called "humanitarian racism" must stop be wrongly explained away as somehow being "on it's own" and as somehow being a result of mainly some kind of beneficent sentiment.

      It's anti-Jewish racism. That's what it is.

It's a passive-aggressive outlet for malicious, and sanctimonious, anti-Jewish racism.

Anti-Jewish racism is a deeply engrained part of the culture of culturally Christian-European -- Christian and formerly Christian -- societies. Anti-Jewish racism is, therein, a deeply engrained part of the psyche of Christian and non-Christian culturally Christian-European people. That the perverse huge absurd imbecilic lies about Israel that vilify Israel have become so widely believed in the West (and that those lies have been so widely disseminated in the West in the first place) is a demonstration and manifestation of that.

What needs to be done is to dispel the belief in those lies. What needs to be done is to tell the true factual history and current reality of the situation that Israel is in.

    3. I do not think you overstate, because the phenomenon is quite real, but I think there is plenty of hate spewed from both directions, and one side or the other predominates depending on the issue.

The main fault with humanitarian racists, besides the hate, is the hypocritical approach to conduct that is similar in character, all to further an ideological agenda.

    4. "It's anti-Jewish racism. That's what it is."

      It's mainly anti-Jewish racism.

  3. "So Americans are murdered by Libyans and who is at fault?

An Israeli and an American evangelical. Typical."

Whenever in doubt about any of this kind of stuff just ask yourself the above or something like it and it all becomes clear. That simple. That complex.

We use to laugh when Flip Wilson intoned, "The Devil made me do it." Now, even the Prez of the USA is willing to label a filmmaker or some poor schnook tasked with deposing of Korans the Devil, just to pacify enraged Muslims. Fuck that shit!

  4. Hmmmmm....this Bacile guy is probably NOT Israeli and probably NOT a Jew. Maybe Egyptian Copt...

    1. The Copts need all the friends that they can get.

Sadly, their fellow Christians are not standing by them, but maybe we need to do a better job of it, as well.

I say that we stand with the Copts.

    2. And more...

"The self-proclaimed director of "Innocence of Muslims" initially claimed a Jewish and Israeli background. But others involved in the film said his statements were contrived as evidence mounted that the film's key player was a southern Californian Coptic Christian with a checkered past.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, told The Associated Press in an interview outside Los Angeles Wednesday that he managed logistics for the company that produced "Innocence of Muslims," which mocked Muslims and the prophet Muhammad."

"Nakoula denied he had posed as Sam Bacile. Federal court papers filed in a 2010 criminal prosecution against him said Nakoula had used numerous aliases in the past. Among the fake names, the documents said, were Nicola Bacily and Erwin Salameh.

During a conversation outside his home, Nakoula offered his driver's license to show his identity but kept his thumb over his middle name, Basseley. Records checks by the AP subsequently found that middle name as well as other connections to the Bacile persona."

    3. Of course it would have been nice if AP had checked all this out before reporting he was an Israeli Jew. Isn't that kinda their job, to confirm things like this? Especially considering the circumstances, and all? And it would also have been nice, if this is true, that the guy didn't claim to be what he did, either. Not. Fucking. Helpful.

    4. And still, even as all this comes out, those fine folks at Daily Kos know it's all a plot by Jews. And Israel

How's that for some truly whacked-out conspiracy theory, eh?

Elsewhere on that site, we now have a brand new, top-recommended diary from noted antisemite Lefty Coaster, which already contains a few "all Jews are Israeli agents" and some ZOG-giness, and which is certainly rife for all other kinds of bigotry as the day wears on.

I don't know why I even went back there to look at that shitpile over the past couple days. I guess mainly just to confirm that the place is still a sewer of hate. It was a good few months not even clicking on that site, I plan to go back into that mode again very soon...

  5. Obama refuses to meet with Israel's Netanyahu on U.S. visit

No time for Netanyahu – Obama's doing Letterman; "White House says US president, Israeli PM won't be meeting over 'conflicting schedules' but reports claim Obama will be guest on late show instead",7340,L-4280699,00.html

Also, more on the following event:

    (Warning: graphic images)

Now, tell me that all of this isn't anti-Jewish racism. And I'll recount the equivalent lie that all of the self-professed "Pacifists" who excused and defended Hitler and the Nazi regime of Germany were not anti-Jewish racists, and I'll recount the similar lie that the industrialist and financier and political governing class of the U.S. who supported and financed the Nazi regime of Germany in the 1930's were not anti-Jewish racists, and I'll recount the similar lie that what Hitler, while expressing his belief that "The Jews" were evil malevolent beings who were causing all of the disharmony between peoples in the world, expressed in his expressing that he was an altruistic humanitarian who was seeking world peace and harmony between peoples was true, and I'll recount the similar lie that what Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, while expressing his belief that "The Jews"/"The Zionists" are evil malevolent beings and are the cause of all disharmony between peoples in the the world, has expressed in his repeatedly expressing that he and the regime in Iran are altruistic humanitarians who are seeking world peace and harmony between peoples is true.

Anti-Jewish racists believe the lies that they tell. However, their belief that those lies are true doesn't make those lies true.

    1. Hitler Speaks About the Jews

(BTW, note the high number of 'Likes' on this video at this time.)

Listen to speeches by Ahmedinejad, in Iran, and at the United Nations, about "The Zionist Entity"/"The Zionists"/"The Jews". I don't have the wherewithal right now to look up, and list links to, some of such many speeches. Just look on YouTube.

Also, check out the following video of an interview of Mahmoud Ahmedinejad with Larry King titled "Ahmadinejad Speaks The Truth" uploaded by a YouTube user named "TheLiberalPacifist" (which is a video that, at the time of my writing this comment, has close to two hundred thousand views, and over one thousand "Likes", and a little over one hundred "Dislikes".

      As I said:

What needs to be done is to dispel the current manifestation of Western genocidal anti-Jewish racism. What needs to be done is to tell the true factual history and current reality of the situation that Israel is in.

At least there is currently one decent government of a nation in the world other than Israel.

      Canada Supports Israel Not Iran

    2. There are many (or, I think, at least relatively many, or relatively many of the) decent people here:

See the commenters here. They overwhelmingly support Israel.

    3. I apologize if my expressing these things is distressing. It's just that I am distressed.

And I think that it's good to know what, in fact, is the case -- in order to know what is beneficial to do and in order to then do what is beneficial.

All of this bad stuff can be dispelled -- with right action.

What needs to be done is to tell the true factual history and current reality of the situation that Israel is in.

      But, in any case,

I realize that what's best to do is to take good care of one's own mind and one's own well being, and to not cause any harm to oneself or others.

I apologize if I have caused any harm.

I'm going to try to take good care of my own mind and I'm going to try to not cause any harm to myself and others.

      Metta (Loving kindness, kind friendliness)

    4. Dan,

you're a good guy and you often have terrific insights (usually buried beneath an avalanche of verbiage), but if you do not stop needlessly apologizing... I am going to strangle a random, perfectly innocent puppy.

      I swear to G-d, dude.

I am going to stalk and murder a perfectly innocent little puppy and it will be YOUR fault.

      And I won't apologize!

    5. Do me a favor and strangle a cardinal, instead. And beat up on those Dodgers and Diamondbacks, too.

      {Phils just 3.5 games out of Wild Card #2 with 19 to go - this was inconceivable even just two weeks ago!}

    6. Make that three out with 19 to go... thank you, San Diego! :-D

I'm the Reds' biggest fan for the next hour or so; and ummm, errmmmm, okay I can say it... let's go Braves tonight, too!

  6. Yeah Dan. This is one place you never need apologize. You are among friends. And we "get," you.

  7. It ain't over til the fat protestor sings.

"Egyptian protesters burn the U.S. flag during a demonstration outside the U.S. embassy in Cairo, as demonstrators gathered to condemn what they said was a film being produced in the United States that insulted Prophet Mohammad, September 12, 2012 (Reuters / Mohamed Abd El Ghany)

Riot police have managed to push a group of several hundred protesters back in Cairo's side streets near the embassy.

Some of the protesters have been injured, state news agency MENA reported, giving no further details. Witnesses reporting the incident on Twitter said as many as several dozen people may have been injured"

    1. "It ain't over til the fat protestor sings." Like this one?

In conclusion, Pat tucked in her arms and rolled down the street causing a five-car pile-up.

  8. And in case anyone missed it the first time around here is a list of stuff that offends Muslims.

  9. Not even a British documentary by distinguished professor of history examining the origins of Mohammed, who Arabs long ago decided could never be mentioned except approvingly, was considered to be too taboo for public consumption, and censored through coercive tactics.

    Here is the documentary:

And here a story on the censorship:

Yet these fundamentalists have no compulsion when the life or right of non-believers are violated, and unhesitant to engage in incitement to hatred that is far worse than they decry against themselves. This includes incitement to genocide, an international crime that states have a duty to prevent and to punish.

But what about evangelical Christians? Yes, they may have silly, even stupid notions about spiritual existence and morality to many observers, but they do not routinely kill, maim and subjugate in the pursuit of faith. That is a crucial distinction to remember before they are demonized.

For those who rely on Islamophobia to stifle debate, do they believe that Muslim hate speech should be disseminated to a wider public? If it is prohibited to offend or even scrutinized Islam, how can we learn about history?

    1. It's a nice little scam and protection racket they got going isn't it?
