Restating the Fundamental Argument

Mike L.

It's important now and again to be reminded of the fundamental argument.

Or, at least, it is important for me to remind myself of it.

Unlike many other political blogs Israel Thrives welcomes a wide array of opinions because we are non-partisan. We are conservatives and we are liberals. We are Democrats and independents and, I'm guessing, one or two of us may actually be Republicans.

In any case, this is what I think is important:

THE FUNDAMENTAL ARGUMENT:

The progressive movement, and the activist base of the Democratic Party, creates and supports venues that demonize and defame the Jewish state, thereby also creating hatred toward the Jewish people.

Such venues include political journals, such as, but not limited to, Daily Kos, the Huffington Post, and the UK Guardian, numerous universities throughout the United States and Europe, various NGOs with an anti-Israel agenda, and the entire progressive-left movement to boycott, divest from, and sanction (BDS) the Jewish people of the state of Israel.

These venues and organizations do not generally criticize Israel, but dehumanize that country.

For this reason, among others, the progressive movement, and the activist base of the Democratic Party, undermines the well-being and safety of Jews around the world, sometimes resulting in violence toward us.

Therefore, as a matter of common sense and basic human decency, Jews should leave the progressive movement and the Democratic Party as we seek to build alternative political structures that are not home to toxic anti-Semitic anti-Zionists, who would see us robbed of self-determination and self-defense.

  2. Mike,

I THINK THAT YOUR E-MAIL (GMAIL) ACCOUNT MAY HAVE BEEN HACKED INTO. I just got the following e-mail message (with an e-mail bcc to me) from what, according to the e-mail message, is your e-mail address. I don't want to write to you at your e-mail address now -- because of that. (Also, previously, for throughout the past year, I've gotten failed-attempted-access notification messages from facebook that indicate that my facebook page has been attempted to be hacked into (and I think that my e-mail account has been attempted to be hacked into)).

I have seen evidence which indicate that the following message (posing as being from you) that I got (and most or all of the other things that I have told you about that I got from hostile deceitful sources (which I thought were from Russia)) may be from Iranian sources.

    Dan

    1. Update:

Mike, I think that your e-mail account wasn't hacked into.

The address in the "Reply-To" field in that e-mail message that I got was "mike.lurnish@gmail.com" (not mike.lumish@gmail.com -- "lurnish" not "lumish" -- although the address in the "From" field in that e-mail message that I got was "mike.lumish@gmail.com").

    5. Doodad,

Yeah, okay. I thought that more than one person would have gotten that e-mail message.

Thank you for letting me, and everyone else, know.

    6. Heya Guys,

      Dan is correct.

      My system was hacked.

I will be out for a few days as I prove to Google that Lumish is Lumish.

Thank Laurie for providing this communication. I should be back in the next couple of days.

I am looking forward to responding to Mr. Haber and we got four stripers yesterday.

      Peace to you, please, Mike

  4. I got that message as well. (I almost marked it as spam, but then realized I'd be discarding good messages as well.)

    1. Don't talk to about discarding messages. My husband deleted a folder of mine at the weekend. It cost a fair few bob to get back a few things that weren't corrupted. If you hear of a murder in Sydney, it will probably be me that did it

Not only that, for some inexplicable reason, which I can't quite grasp at this point in time, he had deleted my back-up on the external hard drive when I bought this ultrabook

  5. I also received it. I then phoned Geoff and left a message on his phone.

I tried the US phone book to get Mike's number. No luck, so I sent an email to Jay.

It sounded strange as I read it and certainly not Mike! Not enough swearing!!

By the way Mike, I'm a right thinker, but our right isn't as right as that in the US. Daphne Anson is too and I daresay Geoff also

    1. Concur. Therein lies the problem -

"but our right isn't as right as that in the US. "

I actually come down on what is generally considered the 'right' side of center on more than a few issues, but in total I'm far to the left of any mainstream American politician. My only 'option,' personally, is Democratic or nothing, because I just can't agree with anything the leaders of our other party have to offer, domestically. Not that the D's are sunshine and unicorns either, though.

My main problem with the Democrats isn't Israel-related. Rather, it's because they and their superfans piss on my leg with warmed-over 1990's neoliberal goo, and then when I notice, snidely ask 'well hey, would you prefer it were raining Republicans instead?'

My answer is no. Since our current electoral process is hopeless, all I want is to live in a city and a region which is well set-up for a sustainable future, and that's where I've finally made it to settle for good. Besides, I'm tired of the fear-mongering and demonization carried out by the partisans on both sides.

      But I digress.

Mike's right about ideological diversity here, and I'm glad I broke out of the extreme partisan bubble which I spent my entire adult life in until just this year. I'm still the same person I always was, except for that. I'm very much at peace now, what with no longer being constantly told that I have to hate so many of my fellow countrymen. Doodad said it pretty damned good a few weeks ago, somewhere here. That enterprise will surely carry on, but from here on out it'll be without me.

And now back on the other topic... :)

Here's hoping Mike gets back online soon! I'm thinking he's had a lot to say over the past few days.
