Why Israel Doesn't Trust Obama

Mike L.

Two interesting stories this morning as I drink my coffee.

First, the Wall Street Journal.
Barack Obama is fond of insisting that he "has Israel's back." Maybe he should mention that to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

In remarks to journalists in London quoted by the Guardian, General Martin Dempsey warned that any Israeli attack on Iran would "clearly delay but probably not destroy Iran's nuclear programs." He also said economic sanctions on Iran were having an effect and needed more time to work, but that the good they were doing "could be undone if [Iran] was attacked prematurely."...

No wonder the Israelis are upset—at the U.S. Administration. It’s one thing to hear from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that he wants to wipe you off the map: At least it has the ring of honesty. It’s quite another to hear from President Obama that he has your back, even as his Administration tries to sell to the public a make-believe world in which Iran’s nuclear intentions are potentially peaceful, sanctions are working and diplomacy hasn’t failed after three and half years...

The irony for the Administration is that its head-in-the-sand performance is why many Israeli decision-makers believe they had better strike sooner than later. Not only is there waning confidence that Mr. Obama is prepared to take military action on his own, but there’s also a fear that a re-elected President Obama will take a much harsher line on an Israeli attack than he would before the first Tuesday in November.

If Gen. Dempsey or Administration officials really wanted to avert an Israeli strike, they would seek to reassure Jerusalem that the U.S. is under no illusions about the mullahs’ nuclear goals—or about their proximity to achieving them. They’re doing the opposite.

Since coming to office, Obama Administration policy toward Israel has alternated between animus and incompetence. We don’t know what motivated Gen. Dempsey’s outburst, but a President who really had Israel’s back would publicly contradict it.

Those of you who think that the Obama administration honestly intends to prevent Iranian nukes are deluding yourselves. You are engaging in nothing more than wishful thinking. The Obama administration's policy has not been one of preventing Iranian nukes, but one of preventing Israel from defending itself from the development of those nukes.

There are no good options here, but unless the Jews of the Middle East are prepared to live or die according to the whims of the Iranian mullahs (thus throwing the Zionist project into the trash) they will have to take care of things on their own. Obama cannot be counted on and, in fact, will do everything that he possibly can to make sure that Israel does not do what Israel may need to do.

The other story from Y-Net is this:

Official: Obama will make Netanyahu pay

Israeli security officials on Saturday tried to downplay the Pentagon's decision to significantly scale back its participation in a joint military exercise with Israel next month, but some government officials said the decision came as a response to the growing tensions between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office and the Obama administration.

"This is the Obama administration's response to the dinner party Netanyahu held in (Mitt) Romney's honor," a senior member of the political-security cabinet told Ynet, while another official said the Pentagon's decision "isn’t boosting deterrence and is not making the Iranians sweat...

"The US elections are in two months, and there is no doubt that President Barack Obama, if he is reelected, will make Netanyahu pay for his behavior," said the security cabinet member. "It will not pass quietly."

The Obama administration is clearly not to be trusted.

The Obama administration wrecked any potential that there may have been in the peace process and then blamed Israel for the foreseeable outcome of its own failed policies. The Obama administration insists, for all intents and purposes, that it has every right to tell Jewish people where we may, or may not, be allowed to live in our historical capital of Jerusalem. And, furthermore, the Obama administration is at least partly responsible for the rise of radical Islam throughout the Middle East and the coming to power of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

This man is no friend to Israel, no friend to the Jewish people, and his foreign policies are making the world a more perilous place.

He very much needs to go away.

Hasn't he been doing so since even before Bibi was elected?

  2. I like to hear this stuff

"Recently, we've heard threats from near and far enemies to 'wipe out' the State of Israel from the map of the Middle East. In all these, I can say that the IDF is ready for any scenario. We will reach any place, anytime, and defend this nation," Gantz said, speaking at the residence of President Shimon Peres."

  4. Shapiro denies stories of tension

The US envoy denied a Yediot Ahronot report Friday of a heated exchange with Netanyahu over the Iranian issue where "sparks flew" during a recent meeting with visiting US Congressman Mike Rogers.

"That is a very silly story," Shapiro said. "The published account of that meeting did not reflect what actually occurred at the meeting. The conversations were entirely friendly and professional, they always are. I always speak respectfully with the prime minister, just as the prime minister always speaks respectfully with me."

    1. I would expect him to say nothing else.

Of course, that does not mean that he isn't telling the truth, but it is, however, irrelevant.

It doesn't matter whether or not "sparks flew."

All that counts is that the Obama administration, for reasons that we've gone over and over again here at IT, is simply not a good ally to Israel, will allow Iran to get the bomb, is supporting radical Jihadi groups like the Brotherhood, and on and on and on.

It still just boggles my mind that Jewish Democrats will support this guy despite the fact that he supports the Brotherhood.

Do they not know the history of the Brotherhood?

      Do they not care?

Are they unaware of the rally in which the Brotherhood called for the conquest of Jerusalem?

It's like talking to a wall.

  5. "The United States has sent a message to Iran, via two European nations, saying that it will not back an independent Israeli strike against the country's nuclear facilities as long as Tehran refrains from attacking American interests in the Persian Gulf, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday.

According to the report, Washington has used covert back channels in Europe to clarify that the US does not intend to back Israel in a strike that may spark a regional conflict.

In return, Washington expects Iran to steer clear of strategic American assets in the Persian Gulf, such as military bases and aircraft carriers.

Israeli officials reported of an unprecedented low in the two nations' defense ties, which stems from the Obama administration's desire to warn Israel against mounting an uncoordinated attack on Iran."

    wtf?????

    1. It's been plain as day, for those of us with eyes to see, that Obama most definitely does not have Israel's back and is primarily interested not in preventing Iranian nukes, but preventing Israel from preventing Iranian nukes.

Liberal American Jewry is being played for a sucker by this regime and they're doing an excellent job of it.

As my dear 'ol dad used to say, I wouldn't trust this guy as far as I could throw him.

  6. And then there's this:

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////
Exclusive: U.S. Scales-Back Military Exercise with Israel, Affecting Potential Iran Strike

A smaller U.S. contingent may make it more difficult for the Israeli government to launch a pre-emptive strike on Tehran's nuclear program.

By Karl Vick and Aaron J. Klein | August 31, 2012

Seven months ago, Israel and the United States postponed a massive joint military exercise that was originally set to go forward just as concerns were brimming that Israel would launch a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The exercise was rescheduled for late October, and appears likely to go forward on the cusp of the U.S. presidential election. But it won’t be nearly the same exercise. Well-placed sources in both countries have told TIME that Washington has greatly reduced the scale of U.S. participation, slashing by more than two-thirds the number of American troops going to Israel and reducing both the number and potency of missile interception systems at the core of the joint exercise.

“Basically what the Americans are saying is, ‘We don’t trust you,’” a senior Israeli military official tells TIME.
    //////////////////////////////////////////////////

    What should that tell us?

    ----

I've been reluctant to list articles by Francisco Gil-White previously -- because he doesn't understand Jewish Stockholm syndrome and because I think that he, therefore, wrongly thinks that Jewish leaders (the leaders of the government of Israel (and so-called "Jewish leaders" in the U.S. (leaders of so-called "Jewish organizations" in the U.S.; and prominent Jewish American academics (and prominent Jewish Israeli academics), etc.))) are deliberately, consciously, colluding with, and have deliberately, consciously, colluded with, the racist anti-Jewish Western governing establishment to destroy the Jewish people.

Also, Francisco Gil-White doesn't understand certain other aspects of the Western establishment's racist war against the Jewish people. He doesn't realize that, in many cases, with many people, it's not deliberate nor conscious. He doesn't understand that a large part of it is just Western normal anti-Jewish bigotry (and ignorance (as part of Western normal anti-Jewish bigotry); and willful ignorance (as a result of Western normal anti-Jewish bigotry)) and just is, in that way, like a snowball rolling and gathering more snow and more momentum -- a snowball effect.

Francisco Gil-White was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He was fired for publicizing the Nazi origins of Fatah-PLO. He was fired for that BY SOMEONE WHO IS JEWISH (in typical Jewish Stockholm Syndrome fashion). And the person who fired him, who is Jewish, listed, in his own resume, that he had worked for the CIA. And this caused Francisco Gil-White to misinterpret that person as deliberately, consciously, working with the racist anti-Jewish Western governing establishment (which, I think, includes the top, senior, level of the membership the CIA) to destroy the Jewish people.

The Secret War Against the Jews, by John Loftus and Mark Aarons

      http://books.google.com/books/about/Secret_war_against_the_Jews.html?id=8n_HVSpOWHcC

"The authors demonstrate that numerous Western countries, especially the United States and Great Britain, have conducted repeated and willful spying missions on Palestine and later Israel over many decades. While on the surface these two countries and others profess to be ardent allies of Israel, they work, in fact, through their intelligence services to betray Israel's secrets to the Arabs. Their motive: oil and multinational profits, which must be attained at any price through international covert policies. To understand the duplicitous nature of the West's diplomatic relations with Israel, the authors contend that one must understand the history that begins after the end of World War I with the sordid Mideast exploits of a British diplomat, Jack Philby. They then proceed into a detailed discussion of the boardrooms of American and English bankers and lawyers who had strong connections with Nazi leaders and Arab oil tycoons in the 1930s prior to the outbreak of World War II. Particularly intriguing is the information that the writers present to suggest an all-too-cozy financial relationship that existed between the Allied intelligence community and German banks even during the war."

America's Nazi Secret: An Insider's History, by John Loftus

      http://www.amazon.com/Americas-Nazi-Secret-Insiders-History/dp/1936296047

"Fully revised and expanded, this stirring account reveals how the U.S. government permitted the illegal entry of Nazis into North America in the years following World War II. This extraordinary investigation exposes the secret section of the State Department that began, starting in 1948 and unbeknownst to Congress and the public until recently, to hire members of the puppet wartime government of Byelorussia—a region of the Soviet Union occupied by Nazi Germany. A former Justice Department investigator uncovered this stunning story in the files of several government agencies, and it is now available with a chapter previously banned from release by authorities and a foreword and afterword with recently declassified materials."

John Loftus was a U.S. Justice Department federal prosecutor who had above Top Secret security clearance in the U.S. government.
